Last month I found a semi truck at "kenworth sales company". I emailed about it and a man names Quinn Ennis called me back. We exchanged a few emails back and forth and I was very clear when I asked if the truck was inspected at their shop. He not only said YES it was fully inspected but he personally likes that truck over the other trucks that were for sale at the same price. Needless to say, we worked out a deal over the ph contingent upon the truck being what he says it was. My only problem was I am not a mech. I expected what he said to be true and accurate. 


A week later I showed up and put my down payment down on the truck. I came back a week after that, once the bank wired kenworth the difference, and picked the truck up. I explained to him I have a 1000 mile drive ahead of me to get to my destination. I clearly asked him what happens if I break down, I told him i will be in -20 degrees weather on a daily basis and can not afford a break down because of the dangers to my health and not to mention the shop rates were I'm at are double your normal shop rate because of the remoteness of the area were I work my truck ( North Dakota oil feilds). . I made it 20 miles outside of Stanley North Dakota when my truck shut  down. Low water light came on. I stopped and looked under the hood and sure enough my water pump blew the seal out the back and the radiator popped a seam were the plastic meets the aluminum. I called the salesmen, no answer. I emailed the salesmen with pictures, no answeR. Up until now the salesmen would answer my email or call within minutes. But he magicly disappears now. 

I had to have a friend come bob tail and pull me the rest of the way to my terminal. I slept in the truck the next few  nights with no heat Cause I couldn't run the truck. It takes days to be seen out here by a shop and sometimes days to get the parts. 


Ok. No big deal I think. I will eat this. It's part of buying something as is. The parts were 1500$ and I found a shop 30 miles away who pulled me there and replaced the radiator and water pump for about 2300 total if i remeber right. It wasn't the end of the world. It is what it is. But I still called the manger to tell him what was going on And see if he will at least pay labor. He seemed intrested and said he would have the salesmen call me ASAP. Sure enough all the sudden Quinn Ennis found my number and called me right back. He went on and on that the truck is as is and he can't help but he is sure trying. After several days of back and forth and him dragging his feet and saying he is going further up the ladder, he finally calls and says the StealerShip is not getting involved And I own the truck. I told him shame on you and shame on the manger for what you did and how you guys lied. The lie was, Quinn said it was inspected by his shop. A kenworth semi truck dealer is expected to have some credability Or at least you would think that since they sell 200k$ trucks. You would take a truck to them to have it inspected if you were buyin it off the street so why not belive a salesmen who works for them when he says it was fully inspected at their shop with factory trained techs.??

Ok. I eat the radiator And water pump. Life is sometimes not fair but it is what it is. Shame on them and I will move on. I think.....that's the end of this. But 30 miles after I just had a radiator and a water pump installed, the second radiator blows at the seems. I then took the truck to another shop to see if it was something the last shop did or does the truck have other problems. Sure enough the truck is building pressure in the coolant system. I have the radiator replaced a second time. 1000$ parts and labor. but was told do not drive it and tow it to a certefied dealer and have them test some other parts out and see what's what.

Two weeks go by and I finally get my turn at the dealer. I couldn't get in any sooner they were so busy. The tow bill alone was over 700$ to get my truck there. The next day after they started they called me and explained their findings. I waited to get everything in writing and avoid any speculation.http://www.kenworthsalesco.com

They found the fan hub was bolted to the fan itself. This keeps the fan running on the motor the whole time. This keeping engine temp low. They found a bad head gasket. That is the reason the motor is pressurizing And blowing anythig that water runs In. They also found a bad air dryer. 


This is is why I am writing this report. How does a kenworth dealer miss these things in a inspection? How does a tech miss a fan being on the whole time. I missed it because I am not a mechanic. I am a driver. But there is no excuse for a certified tech to miss this. the Detriot dealer were the truck is at now explained to me that this has been like this for some time and the person who sold this to me knew very well that the head gasket was bad. That's why they bolted the fan to the hub. 

I will make a website in the next few days and post the letter from the Detriot dealer who found the problems , the emails and texts I got from the salesmen telling me it was inspected And the bills from the tow and the other radiators and the water pump I had replaced. I will then link that to this report and also to any other website I can find. I will make as much noise as as I can about this situation and hopefully some potential customers will read this and have an idea of what could happen if you do business with them. 

The dealer has refused to pay for the problems and said it was as is. That's ok And it was to be expected. Buy for a new truck dealer to go out of their way to hide a bad head gasket, was not something I would expect. 

They might have your dream truck. It might be the best deal you ever got. For all I know this might be a one time thing. So I don't blame any other sales people at the dealer ship but Quinn Ennis. He said one thing and it turned out to be another. When I called him on it, he said its as is. 


I write this review with the intention of brining attention to the dealer and in hopes that some other driver does not end up with a bill like mine and I hope that I can save someone else the headache I went thru. 

Buyer beware when dealing with them.

Fan hub was supposed to be bolted the way it was.

In my earlier post I thought the fan was not supposed to be bolted the way it was. But I didn't understand the explaination I was given. It was supposed to be bolted that way. needless to say it is locked up and constantly on. also, when I sent the link to the dealer he responded with a email that stated he will sue me for slander because my claims are wrong. He then said he had the fan hub replaced and said he has paper work showin this. When I explained it was not changed he said it was rebuilt and an untrained eye can not tell this. Ok. Fine. Let's say it was rebuilt and I can't not tell. Then why is it locked constantLu on? This is were credibility comes in to questions. Back pedaling, then they follow up with a "I will sue you letter if u don't stop Slandering". 

in their defense. I did give the wrong impression about the fan hub being bolted. Because I thought that's what's keepin it on all the time. That was not right. But instead of explaining or tryin to look into it hey said they will foward all info the their legal department and the salesmen said "tread lightly because this is now in the hands of their legal department". 

I have no legel recourse cause I bought it as is. But they should of been fair and stood behind their claims that it was in good running order like they said at the time of sale. That's all I wanted from them , a truck that runs as it should. Because that's what they told me I was buying. 


Dealer aler also found a crack front brake part. I don't know exactly what it is but they said I need new front brakes because of this. 


The he dealer still refuses to step to the plate and make this right. When this started I offered to help pay somw of the expense to repair it said let's meet In the middle and fix this and move on. They refused and still refuse to deal with the problem. Even after it's been documented by a third party. These are the findings. Fan constately on. It has not been replaced. The head gasket is bad and the air dryer is bad. The brakes in front also need to be replaced. To what extent I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting on a call back as to what's going on with those. 

i will say this. I offered to meet them half way. They refused. Then they said they will sue me if I keep posting. I miss spoke about the fan hub. It is bolted. But its supposed to be bolted. Why it's constantly on and locked up is because ita old and needs replaced. Which they said they did. That wasn't the case. 

Ill post more if I find anythiNg else. Out as of now I'm out the shop bill and lost time from work.
