La forma en que está redactada su publicación me involucra dentro de una misma categoría de empresarios y banqueros quienes, según su publicación, han creados una "maniobra o estrategia para ocultar trasiego de fondos o eludir el pago de impuestos, utilizando sociedades en Panamá”, por medio de la firma de abogados Mossack Fonseca. Sin embargo, lo que no dice el Semanario Universidad, como si lo dijo Amelia Rueda, es que mi nombre está en dicha documentación única y exclusivamente porque en 1998, cuando ejercí el cargo de Ministro de Hacienda, dicha cartera era la encargada de realizar la investigación sobre los Certificados de Abono Tributario (CATs) y como Ministro de Hacineda se me copió de una nota enviada al entonces Presidente de la República, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez , sobre el caso de la empresa Borda Azul S.A. Es decir, mi nombre se menciona en una documentación porque se me notificó de la venta de una empresa en virtud de la investigación que en aquel momento llevaba el Ministerio de Hacienda . Usted justifica el interés público en virtud de las personas y empresas mencionadas, lo cual es un absurdo: el interés público debe provenir del tema abordado y jamás de la persona. Son ingratas las manifestaciones contenidas en ese reportaje y la forma en que se hicieron, porque no calaran cuáles fueron los alcances y los motivos por los cuales mi nombre aparece en esa información. Aclaración UNIVERSIDAD mencionó al ex Ministro de Hacienda, Leonel Baruch Goldberg, porque su nombre aparece en los archivos del bufete Mossack Fonseca en su calidad de director y presidente de la firma panameña BCT Bank International S.A. y del poder que su empresa le otorgó -el 23 de diciembre de 2014- a los abogados del mencionado bufete para una gestión legal.
