This software outfit, based in Belarus, is running a renewal scam on SEOs who buy their software. What they are doing is including a limited subscription update of search engine information in the purchase. However when the subscription runs out, the software is blocked by them, stops using search data altogether. The annual renewal fee is equivalent to the purchase price of the software itself. It is pretty good software but not worth that.

Buttons inviting potential customers to BUY or DOWNLOAD are all above this information - e.g. on the product page above there is an ORDER RANK TRACKER NOW button right at the top of the page (with no mention of the Live plan next to the
button).

If visitors click on that ORDER button they will miss the ONLY opportunity to find out about the Live! plan - they are taken
straight into the shopping cart process where they are buying a 'professional license'. You are then taken through the entire process with no further mention of Live! plan charges. Also no terms and conditions (apart from Plimus' very brief T & C).

Buyer beware of this deceitful marketing tactics.

There are plenty of other products out there that can do the same thing better and cheaper

Again a victim of misleading marketing practice

AUTHOR: Vivian - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, September 24, 2012

I am a victim of misleading marketing practice.  It is not fair.  The only good comments are probably posted by their own people.  Tons of negative reviews all over the internet.

+1 happy Rank Tracker user

AUTHOR: Annika - (Russian Federation)

I just came across this negative report and i totally disagree with it! I can't sit and watch quietly how someone is trying to spoil the reputation of the company who are making the most decent SEo software out there. The info on subscription is easy to find on the site. All you have to do is click "Software prices" link on the homepage and you will see all info about licenses and Live plan prices.

If you don't want to pay for good software, then this is the problem, and not the fact that the software requires payment. It's good software, the developers are responsible and honest and this software is so much better than competing tools, the company must be spending a fortune on making it better all the time, with all these Google algo chages and captchas and all - and this is the only piece of SW actually that is able to adjust fast.

The rest of tracking tools just show you wrong data for days if Google's algorithm has changed. Like in ibp or webceo, they will just put in old data from a previous chech and you won't even notice. You will think you rank #3 and you are long ago #12. And still even lower-quality tools charge renewal price, so what's wrong about Rank Tracker updates for SE algorithms? It's fair, just like antivirus needs updates, the same is true for SEO software. This is how it works, and it can't work otherwise. Car dealers don't write on cars "you will need to buy gas for it". Live! plan is like gas for RT. It's just obvious if you have any knowledge in SEO at all, you would understand this.

Your negative attitude arises from your inexperience and willingness to get good things cheap - but this doesn't work, good things always cost. I've just paid for Live plan for 3 years to go (they have a cheap 36-month plan) It is important that the software is working fine and shows correct results, so I pay for that.

Link-Assistant is decptive

AUTHOR: User007 - (United States of America)

After having looked at their website  would have to agree with OP.

WHY would they put the ONLY information about the subscription in small print at the bottom of the page unless they want to hide the fact they are chargin for a subscription?

They are using clever methodology like: "Free for life", "Free updates", "free of charge updates for life" all over the page but NEVER mention that you have to pay for a subscription.

The only information about this is on the order page at the end. This information you will never see if you click on any of the many "Order Buttons" on the page.

The whole idea is to let the buyer believe that the product comes with FREE UPDATES for life, when in reality it's not.

It is decptive marketing and would never be allowed in many countries.
I guess Russia doesn't have a consumer board or consumer protection agency.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

I'm a happy Rank Tracker user

AUTHOR: legacy0009 - (United States of America)

Anything said above is a total BS. Let me explain:

1) The software is great - SEO PowerSuite (and Rank Tracker as a part of this suite) is one of the best and one of the most well-known SEO tools.

2) You seem to be accusing them that they're from Belarus? Well, actually I've always preferred people from some other countries who do the work to my US neighbors who can just yell they're not satisfied :)

3) You say they are using SAAS (recurring fees) approach - but what's the problem? ANY tool in the SEO field uses the same approach (let alone free toys that do more evil than good). Let me tell once again: this is a COMMON thing for ALL SEO-related tools.

4) You accuse them of having BUY or DOWNLOAD buttons on their website. I don't even want to comment on that. That's OK, man ;)

5) They've got LOTS of pages describing their Live! Plan - like here: http://www.link-assistant.com/prices.html - look at the big red "Live! Plan" section. And this page is just one click away from the main page, so what's the problem?

6) No T&C? What T&C do you want? Did you install the software on your computer? Did you see the License Agreement? The site itself shouldn't cover any legal issues since all the issues are covered for the software (i.. product) itself - not for the site (i.e. marketplace).

So there's nothing to be scared of. And yes, there's NO other products that can do the same things. A lot of cheaper (or more expensive) products, but non of them come even close to what Rank Tracker can do - and that's true. I do pay for Live! Plans for more than 2,5 years already, and you know what? - I'll keep paying, 'cause this tool is definitely the best on the market (otherwise you wouldn't buy it yourself, right?)
