Longs Peak Equipment, INC, Longmont,CO John Deere Longs Peak and John Deere sold me a tractor and attachents. Tractor broke down after 150 hours and they said I abused it because the attachements I used were abusive. Longmont, Colorado

I purchased a new John Deere LA140 23hp lawn tractor from Longs Peak Equipment 3 years ago, along with attachments. Last fall I could see some performance problems but waited until this spring. I replaced a drive belt purchased from them. Same performance problems.

I took it to Longs Peak for repair. I wrote on the sheet what was wrong with it and that it only ran 15 minutes before problemsI was told it most likely was the pullies that they go out after a couple of years. They replaced them and a couple small items for $225 and 2 weeks. I was told it worked fine and picked it up. When I tested it at home it ran 15 minutes again and was bad. Obviously in the 2 weeks there they never took 15 minutes to test (they said they did but no way).

Took it back.  Drove it around 15 minutes and showed them. They tech person said that not all the belts always fit and it most likely needed a smalller belt. I agrreed to have it replaced. They called me bac 2 hours later and said the transmission was bad. Cost $1000, almost 1/2 of a new one.

I picked it up the next morning. The sales manager said he felt bad that they did a bad job on it and refunded $130 for their service. He said they just did a poor job. Then he said he had another used one that was abandoned. He said he already sent out mail for it to the owner and after one more letter and 6 weeks they would switch out tranmissions for cost of service only, est. $175. I thought that was great.

I called them back 7 weeks later, basically now 1/2 the summer because I never heard back. Their sales manager said it would be another 6 months, it then.

I told him that wasn't acceptable service and emailed the store manager. He was very rude and said that the tractor was abused "according to corp. John Deere". That I used bad equiptment on it.  He didn't even know what I used until I had to send him a link from JD.  He also said I used too big of a snow blade. I reminded  him that he sold it to me. He then told me he'd arrange another store to do my business.

I contacted all local BBB and news people.  People need to know about these crooks and John Deere.
