In December 2018, I purchased a ladder, discounted from $149 to $89. Lowe's online required delivery - with no option for pickup.
It was delivered the next day!
Later, in checking my messages, a message from Lowe's said, "I have your order here for delivery. Just wanted to make sure you understood, you'll be charged $59 for the delivery of the $89 ladder."
Lowe's actually charged me a $94 fee!!

1) The ladder was obviously "in store," at a different location, only about 5 miles away, because it was delivered from the other store the very next day. I wasn't given the opportunity to pick it up, which I would have.
2) Per the check out, the only way to receive it, was via delivery, but there was no delivery charge clearly indicated, nor was the delivery amount specified.
3) Per the phone message, the delivery should have been $59 - they charged me $94. The ladder cost $89.
4) My primary point is, lesson learned. Never, ever have anything delivered by Lowe's. And I have taken it a step further, in that I will never buy anything from Lowe's again. In fact, in just the last couple of weeks I have spent several hundred dollars at big box home improvement stores, and each time I have had to drive by at least one, and sometimes two Lowe's stores.
Oh, and just a side note: The Lowe's store where the ladder was delivered from... About a year earlier we went to that store to pickup an area rug, which was on sale. That store would not honor Lowe's advertised sale price.

If the item is not available for store delivery then YES you will be charged a delivery fee. That is the reason I do not order from Lowes or Home Depot if they do not ship to store. Should have checked before you paid.
