Grandparents AC went out so I recommended Mcafee since I was at work(HVAC Tech). Rick(tech) told them the mainboard was bad due to water damage and needed replaced and it would be $800. They called me and I told them no way. Paid the $119 and said goodbye. After just a few minutes, I found a new mainboard online for $78 and ordered it.
The tech cut wires/rigged/wire nutted and moved around wires so the system AC and fan ran 100% of the time. I installed the mainboard and fixed the wiring mess. I believe in profit and mark up but not this. Also rigged system so they would have to call them back unless someone else worked on it in which they would be charged for the wiring mess plus mainboard.
