Initially Mesa smog said my 86 Mercedes 300 E which I take great care of passed the emissions part of the test but Mesa failed my car anyway upon a visual inspection of the gas cap!! What a joke I knew it was gonna be one of those days when I saw a one armed man errr bandit doing the inspection. Probably lost it dealing off the bottom of the deck in some card room. Anyhow my car initially passed the emissions part of the smog test but Mesa failed me do to a VISUAL inspection of my gas cap...yeah you heard right  a visual inspection of my gas cap. I went and replaced the gas cap and took it back to Mesa.  Now Mesa Smog says my car failed the emissions with the new cap. Mesa charged me anyhow....Remember I told you stay to away from these guys. They are crooked. And the little man that runs the place seemed almost to delight in telling me I had to pay anyhow. Tired of looking up at the world no doubt. Consequently I had the same car smogged 30 minuets later around the corner and low and behold my car passed no problem. That guy went on to tell me that Mesa smog fails folks all the time with older cars. And lots of people are unhappy with them.  And that I had no chance when I pulled in with my 86 mercedes 300 E. He went on to say that failing a certain number cars helps keep the state regulators off Mesa's back and gives them a higher rating. I would hope people would not patronize this expensive & shady kind of shop PERIOD!. If you have an older car good luck. I tried to warn you.
