Mia (Marianne) Edith Van Der Meer and Preethi Shekar I saved Mia's leg from amputation by paying a hospital upfront for an emergency operation and in return I would be reimbursed after her insurance paid out. 

December 2018, Marianne (Mia) Edith Van Der Meer, an online "freind" informs me that she has been in an accident in Bali. Multiple breaks in her leg. Bones protruding. Hospital wants payment upfront to do emergency operation. States she doesn't have local access to $. I see xrays. I talk to the hospital and unbelievably, they won't operate until guaranteed payment. I send my CC with Mia's understanding that her insurance payout will be used to reimburse me. Claims she will "work for me for the rest of her life."

Over the past 5 months, I have repeatedly asked about the status of her insurance. I get the same reply everytime. "I sent them an email." I get no follow up. I have to keep asking. Eventually, I contacted the insurance company myself. They said if I had her sign on, I could just look at the account online also they were willing to do a conference call with her and tell me what her payout is. Mia refuses to tell me anything about insurance, will not give me online access so I can look for myself and will not do a conference call. Understandably insurance will not give out personal account info. Hospital charge to my card was nearly 13,000us, 

At this point I have no choice but to lable this situation as a blantant ripoff and a pathetic act of greed by someone who today walks on two legs because of what has turned out to be my fool-hearted generosity.  If there ever is an attempt to settle, this report will be updated.
