Murphy Bank is a bank that calls itself a niche bank that helps fill a place in the farming community.

In fact, it charges higher interest rates from people that can't find other banks to carry their older mobile homes or have permit issue homes. If they were truly trying to help the people out they would not charge over 2% higher interest rates than other banks.

The CD's that they say they offer that carry higher interest and their $250,000,000 in assists is built on poor peoples backs.

Yeah - I Don't Think So...

I think these statements in your narrative speak for themselves:

In fact, it charges higher interest rates from people that can't find other banks to carry their older mobile homes or have permit issue homes.  Absolutely correct, and that happens for a reason.  If you cannot find another bank to obtain capital for the reasons you list, then the other banks consider you a substantial risk.

So this bank will issue you a loan, but because of your risk, will charge you a higher interest rate on your loan.  Without this bank, your only other option would be a non-traditional lender who will charge you at least 5-8% higher than other banks would, with collectors who come to your door to collect.

If they were truly trying to help the people out they would not charge over 2% higher interest rates than other banks.  WRONG!!  If they were truly trying to help people, then they would make the loan.  If they didn't want to help people, then they wouldn't make the loan.  So they make the loan in order to help the people in the community.  It therefore becomes your choice as to whether you should take the loan.

The point here is you are not entitled to a loan - period.

The CD's that they say they offer that carry higher interest and their $250,000,000 in assists is built on poor peoples backs.  I can't say whether they offer CD's at a higher interest rate.  But the $250,000,000 in assets the banks holds are built on the loans they make to the community, poor or not, who cannot obtain a loan through other means.

Perhaps what you should really do is move out of San Luis Obispo, and find a cheaper community like Visalia, Fowler, or someplace away from the central coast of California.

No, I do not work for this or any bank.
