Do Not Sign Up For a Trial Membership! Do Not Patronize This Health Club! Vote With Your Feet!

New York Health & Racquet Club has been billing me for almost two years for a monthly membership that I never wanted after I signed up for and subsequently canceled a FREE TRIAL membership two days before the trial membership expired.

The Sales Rep (John) told me that I was all set and said he was sorry that I didn't like the club. Three months later, and ever since, I start seeing monthly charges of $106.00 hitting my credit card. Why did they need my credit card info? John said it was REQUIRED to start the FREE trial membership - what a scam!

I have contacted over five different people at NYHRC and, if you're lucky enough to hear back from any of them, they always direct you to the folks in the cancellations department, Tom and Heidi, and at one point Ashley. You need to cross your fingers in order to get a call back from anyone in this department. Kudos to Tom for calling me back one time (but never again). 

Over 18 months, I have left voicemails, sent e-mails and spent way more time than I should have to get this business to stop charging me for a membership I never wanted.

BUYER BEWARE! CAVEAT EMPTOR! DO NOT PATRONIZE NYHRC! THIS IS NOT THE ONLY REPORT ON HERE ABOUT THIS COMPANY AND THEIR SUSPICIOUS BILLING PRACTICES!

I am ecstatic to say that after approximately 18 months of trying to get this resolved, it is finally over - NYHRC chalked up to their mistakes and canceled a membership I never signed up for. Thank you Tom from the cancellations department.


Coincidentally, this happened on the very same day I posted this report!
