A representitive claiming to be from Oakwood Management Group contacted me about the sale of my timeshare. He offered a good price, and stated that I would need to front the Mexico sales tax of $3200. I did what I thought was thorough research of the company, and I wired the funds to a legitimate bank in Mexico. We were contacted a second time, but this time for an additional $3000 to cover Federal taxes. This is when I figured out the scam, and when I called them on it there was no answer. All attempts to contact them went unanswered.  I now know that the Bank I wired to was legitimate, but the account the money went to was not.  It is cheap insurance to get an attorney involved in any timeshare sale. Do nothing online!

Timeshare Resale Scams

AUTHOR: janie78j - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 08, 2013

Timeshare fraud has been around since the timeshare idea was created, but they increase during poor economy. When times are difficult, timeshare owners are stuck with properties they can´t travel to or even afford. Desperate to recoup some money to pay for bills, they can easily become victims to scams artists pretending to be their timeshare salvation who will take upfront fees -as much as five number figures in some cases- but fail to fulfill their promise.

Thanks for the warning about this company, i'd highly recommend you to read this article from Mexican Timeshare Solutions about timeshare scams and how to get out of one:
