This dental business does direct mail advertising , and also has a sign in front of their business advertising an introductory special. The special offers x-rays , cleaning and doctor exam for $79. 

After the x-rays the hygienist Kim, listed many unnecessary dental procedures and told me out the door the bill would  be $299.00 . I told her that this is a bait and switch , and a scam. I told her I was on fixed income and cannot pay that amount.  Kim said for the $79.00 you got x-rays and teeth measurements. She said "I will clean your teeth for another $140.00". Reluctantly I agreed. 

Dr. Joseph Spingarn recommended I have a procedure done,that I know was not necessary. In addition to seeing a dentist , I also have a periodontist. I alternate visits  between the two dentists . I was looking for a replacement for my dentist who has retired. 

 Another Kim the office manager lied to me  telling me she would send over my x-rays that I paid for. 

I had a very traumatic experience with Planes Dental Arts , I would not recommend this practice to my worst enemy.

I stand by my original complaint. I left out much information, my wife was also a patient. We both had traumatic experiences. After the x-rays Kim told me I had a tooth hanging by a thread. False statement, I saw my periodontist Dr. David Boden three months ago and this was not mentioned. She said I'm going to prep you. The Dr. for sure will discuss this with you. Kim also told me I had an infection, and hinted that if not taken care of it could be fatal.

Nobody recommended taking an antibiotic. Again my periodontist never mentioned this infection on a recent visit. Dr Joseph Spingarn came in, read her notes and went to the tooth in question. He said I recommend that you permit me to cut this tooth and do a root extraction. It was a lower front tooth, He said I will bond the cut tooth to the two adjoining teeth. I said you will leave a dead tooth no root, and bond it to the other teeth? He said yes, I knew he was a quack when I heard that. After this everything went down hill. The price for this asine procedure was $1100.00.

When he realized I was not gullible, he departed the room. Kim returned, she said I need to go over prices with you, VERY CONFUSED I came there for the special. I received a post card and confirmed by phone the special included x-rays, cleaning, and Dr. exam. She said the price is $299.00 and added many new procedures. I told her this is a bait and switch and a scam. I refused her proposal. She told me the only people who get the special price are people who have perfect teeth. She said for the $79.00 you  got x-rays and teeth measurements. You will need to spend another $140.00 to get your cleaning.

The office manager lied again. I was not given  an option, Kim the office manager never provided my wife and I with our x-rays. My wife argued with the staff in the next room and they increased her price but not as much as mine. I have the receipt, it cost me $299.00 for the two of us. Kim the hygentist gave my wife her polish, and told her to self administer at home. Kim the hygientist told my wife it is a state law for the dentist to do the exam prior the cleaning. The Dept of Dentistry said this is a lie. We have never had a dental exam done before the cleaning. More proof there is a conspiracy going on in this office. Dentists never ever look in the mouth until the cleaning is completed for obvious reasons.

My wife called the Dept of Dentistry, inquiring on Dr Joseph Spingarn and found out he was charged with a malpractice incident in Palm Beach county Fl. Also the dept said he has had numerous conplaints and disciplines. Planes Dental Arts is totaly incompetent, in my opinion they violate all laws of ethics and and dental laws. I told the hygentist Kim that if only people with perfect teeth get the discounted price this should be disclosed on the card and also at the beginning of the visit. The price is never brought up until the procedure starts for a reason. Still looking for a new dentist to replace Dr Edwards who recently retired. Also worth repeating, I would not recommend Planes Dental Arts to my worst enemy.

We are very upset over this review.  We take pride in our office here and our patients.  We try to make every patient leave here happy and comfortable.  We literally treat every patient with respect and as a family member.  It is up to us as dental providers to recommend what each and every patient needs but it is always up to the patient if they agree and accept treatment done.  In this circumstance if these patients did not agree, they should have not done or accepted the treatment.   

They came in for our New Patient Special of $79 which includes Comp Exam (D0150), FMX (D0210) and Prophy (D1110) for healthy teeth and gums, our postcard CLEARLY states "New Patients only in absence of gum disease".  We do not or have ever misled a patient on our special promotion ever, nor would we ever take advantage of anyone. 

And as for the x-rays, patient came in and signed release of records, I personally handed patients all of their records, and  personally emailed the x-rays as promised.  I do have a paper trail of all of the above. 

Patient is going around leaving bad reviews on every webiste they can.  We went about all the steps in a professional and legal matter when it came to this patient.  We know that not every patient will love us but we sure do try to make that happen.  Again we take huge pride in our services, our staff and our patients.
