Quibids will not refund your money

AUTHOR: CC77 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 22, 2011

I had the exact thing happen to me.  I used my AMEX card to buy what I thought was

25 bids for 9 cents.  I thought that when I put my card details in I would be taken to one of those check out pages where you agree to the charges.  And I was.  However!!!  According to Quibids when you put your card details into their system you are agreeing to pay $60.00 for 100 bids.  They sent me a screen shot showing me where I agreed to pay $60.00.  It is the "blue area" in my attached photo.

Please note in VERY big red letters it says "Where do we send your winnings?"  Under that it says in

very small letters it says "Starter Bid Pack 100 bids $60.00".  It does not look like any other online check out process/invoice I have ever seen.  It is designed to be deceptive.

Then, because these crooks are masters of deception --  you go through a normal legitimate "Amazon-like" check out process for the 25 bids for 9 cents plus $1.00 in shipping.  This leads you to believe that

you have purchased 25 bids.  I didn't have that "Amazon-like" check out process so I did not know I had agreed to pay $60.00.  So off I go to bid thinking the most I have to lose is $1.09. Not so.  I had used up the 100 bids for $60.00 I had been duped into buying.  So I spent that and the $1.09 that I did in fact knowingly purchase.

I called them today and of course they refuse to refund me the $60.00 because they said I spent them. I did "spend" them but only because I never knew I had purchased them.  I thought I had spent $1.09.

These people claim that they have proven what they do is legal.  In fact, on the website they have a letter from an auditor proving what they do is legal.  That should be warning enough.  A legitimate company would not have to prove they are not deceptive crooks.  So, while I will take responsibility for being foolish not to investigate -- I am on a mission to do everything in my power to expose these creeps for the scumbag thieves they are.   I actually thought there were laws out there to protect the consumer from this nonsense.

I too have a chargeback pending with AMEX.  If Quibids keep charging me, I will continue
to make a stink with AMEX until hopefully AMEX will at least put quibids on somesort of notice.  At this point, it is not the money I was scammed out of.  It is the principal. Really.
