I was with Regions Bank from 2013-2018. I had an overdraft charge from them of $235 until January 2020 when I had paid them off. They had told me that an 8 cents or more credit had been added to my account. I had opened up a new account with them in February 2020. I had paid them $50 to open it up. When my debit card came in the mail, I had ordered something for $12.99 online as well as bought things physically in stores.

I just walked downtown to Regions Bank to deposit $5. It had rejected it twice. I just got off the phone with the customer service at Regions Bank. She said since I had a 36 cents overdraft charge on my account for 2 months it had cancelled my account. She said that I had to go pay them 36 cents & open up a new account. She said that the branches are open by appointments only. I feel that is wrong for them to close a customer's account about $0.36 or a $1.00; especially after just opening it two months ago & had only used it one time.

They should just make me give them $0.36 & allow me to use my same account or open up a new account for me free of charge. That is scamming customers. Due to the Coronavirus going around I thought that businesses, companies, & banks were not supposed to be cutting customers off for anything anyway. I remember when I had went to open up this new account two months ago, the Finance Support Specialist 1 had told me that there will be no overdraft charges on this type of checking account that I had chosen.

This Isn't The First Time You've Done This - And Not the Second - And Not the Last

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, May 03, 2020

Go away Kandy.  Nobody cares about your sob story.  You have no business opening up a bank account because you have no idea of how to maintain a bank account.  That's the bottom line here.  This isn't even the first time you've done this - it represents serially delusional behavior.  I suppose I keep hoping no one is that stupid to overdraft an account that many times, but then you think we're all the same person, so you really must be that stupid.

You went to a bank to open an account with $50, right?  You had the account for 2 months and you already overdraft the account?  I mean stupid.  There is no excuse for that.  You should have taken the $50 and hide it away in the car you live in.  You have no business using a debit card unless you have way more than $200 in your account, let alone $50.  There is ZERO reason anyone in the world should overdraft an account even once in their life - it is an avoidable act 100% of the time.  You do it all the time and object to it all the time.

However, I have a solution.  I would highly recommend the banking industry put your name into Chexsystems permanently so that you can't open a bank account anywhere in the United States.  That should save you several hundred dollars in bank fees, and it should save banks several thousand dollars in administrative fees.  Before you protest - remember that there is no right to have a bank account.

Full disclosure:  I am not an employee of any bank and I am no one else except Jim.  What you're going to find Kandy is no one has any sympathy for your situation.

Nice try Troll

AUTHOR: Kandy - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, April 30, 2020

Robert, your tricks do not work. I have seen your comments on various people's post on RipOffReport every time that they leave a comment. As the other person who had filed a complaint on RipOffReport had told you, you comment under several posts with the name Robert & other names to make it look like other people are agreeing with you & comment with the same writing style. You go from complaint to complaint attacking it to try to discredit it.

You are a true troll who either have nothing better to do, have no life, have stocks in these companies, or work for them. RipOffReport was made for people to share their experiences. It have saved people millions of dollars since it was created in like 1998. It doesn't matter how long it took me to pay off an overdraft charge as long as I paid it off. If I had just opened a new account in February 2020, then there is no way my account should have been closed in two months about a 36 cents to $1 overdraft charge.

I had only used the card one time. I have had debit cards/accounts at other banks that had overdraft charges of $3-8 on it for months or even 2 years, my account was still good & I was still able to use their debit card until it had expired. I was specifically told by their "Financial Support Specialist 1" that there will be no overdraft charges on this checking account. How I know that they are scamming because I had a $235 overdraft charge in late 2018. For up to 90 days, my account was still open without being closed. I had even called them back in late 2018 to tell them that I had wanted them to close it.

They had told me that they cannot close an account with an overdraft charge on it. They said that it will close on its own after 90 days. I have filed a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau too. I am waiting for their response & to see how they will fix this. There is no way that all of these other customers are having these exact experiences with Regions Bank & even other companies if it was wrong or false. I bet it successful lawsuits are filed against Regions Bank about these things, you would still be defending it & other companies. That is why these businesses are closing down left & right.

New Account? Already You Have NSF Charge! Incredible!

AUTHOR: Momo - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, April 30, 2020

This is an account which you just opened. In the early history of this account, ALREADY you are ringing up NSF charges! You don't know how to manage a checking account, do you? If YOU would have kept a WRITTEN RECORD of your account activity, YOU would have known how much you had to spend! Absolutely incredible!!! And no, I don't work for them!

Please

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Thursday, April 30, 2020

You had a $235 overdraft that took you 2 years to pay off. Right after you paid it off you opened another account. As soon as you got the debit card you overdrafted again and let it sit for 2 months. The only RipOff here is the one you are doing to yourself.

PLEASE before you open another account find a class or even a trusted relative or friend that will show you how to properly manage an account. Because you apparently have no clue.  At the very least search on how to use a Written Register.

I feel that is wrong for them to close a customer's account about $0.36 or a $1.00; especially after just opening it two months ago & had only used it one time.
- First off you didn't just use the account one time. You used it at least twice, and likely a couple of more times. Also, this isn't about the amount you are overdrafted as you would still be here saying they shouldn't have closed it if you had overdrafted by $1.01, $5, $10 or what ever amount you ended up overdrafting.

Due to the Coronavirus going around I thought that businesses, companies, & banks were not supposed to be cutting customers off for anything anyway.
- Where did you get that from? Some areas have put in restrictions for evictions and foreclosures, but that is only if the person is late due to the current situation. You had a bank account you overdrafted before this and due to your own negligence not anything to do with the pandemic.

I remember when I had went to open up this new account two months ago, the Finance Support Specialist 1 had told me that there will be no overdraft charges on this type of checking account that I had chosen.
- And you didn't get charged any fees, because you were only overdrawn by $0.36. Which means you spent $0.36 more than you had in your account. Had you been charged overdraft fees you would probably be overdrafted in the hundreds of dollars again.
