I purchased a restaurant certificate for a restaurant in Missoula, Montana (Buttercup Market & Caf) from restaurants.com. When I arrived, I was advised by the management that they do not honor certificates from restaurant.com. She also stated that they told restaurant.com not to issue certificates to her restaurant, but restaurant.com failed to abide by the request. I have had this exact same thing happen to me twice recently. This put the restaurant and myself in an awkward, embarrassing situation. I strongly suggest that you do not purchase any certificates from this website. If you do, call the restaurant you intend to purchase the certificate for and ask them if they accept certificates from restaurant.com. It will save yourself a lot of embarrassment and hassle.
Needless to say, I will not be purchasing any further gift certificates from this website.
