On 11/22/2020 I signed a contract with Sammy Shumake at Seamore’s Canvas Shop to make and install a canvas bimini, sprayhood, full enclosure, and sail packs for my sailboat. The agreed upon price was $7,367.50 including sales tax. I paid a 50% deposit on 11/22/2020 of $3,683. The original verbal lead-time to start work was 2 months.
In a text on April 16, 2021, Sammy said that he should have the job completed in about 2 weeks. That didn’t happen. He finally came out on 6/26/21 to test fit a half-completed bimini and measure for sail packs. He never returned.
After sending him an email with my expectations of completion by 8/23/21, he promised to be there on 8/14/2021 to install the top and measure the enclosure panels. No one showed. Since then Sammy offered the partial work he has done and money, but now will not respond. My only recourse is to sue him for what is owned to me.
Sammy also has my old sail covers that he used as templates for the sail packs. I had to purchase tarps to protect my sails from UV damage.
