As a former employee (of 10 months employment) with Security Systems Inc. (DBA: Safe Home Security), I usually let most things in life go and not make a big deal about it, but when I give a company my all - pouring my heart & soul into my work and get screwed over for STUPID reasons, I have to make noise.

As a web developer/graphics artist, I was literally my own department - taking care of 4 websites for various companies under SSI (Security Systems Inc.), tending to their advertising and promotions, google ads, SEO, logo redesigns, etc. I was also hired as a salaried employee until I couldn't figure out my manager was hounding me about not getting my full 40 hours in each week (I sometimes would be short 1-3 hours on occasion).

So I checked the ADT system and my pay fluctuated - why is it fluctuating if I'm salaried? So I did some digging and basically accused them of salary fraud. If I fell below 40 hours/week, I was pro-rated at the hourly rate which is not legal if I'm salaried. They made good on it and paid me what they shorted me, but right after that, the problems started...

The alarm industry combined with google ads is about as challenging as it gets! ADT spends thousands of dollars every month in their feeble effort to obtain new customers due to attrition. SSI had ONE SINGLE ad going for $500/month and it was targeted towards contractors and not homeowners. This only creates less results of the ad than that if they targeted homeowners.

My manager was arrogant in this sense because afterall, he's an IT director whose expertise is in IT, systems administration, software development, etc. Since the ad was not generating new contractors (due to the high expectations), my manager told me I need take Google Ad Certifications. I have been handling google ads on/off for over 7 years with various companies - and successfully I might add. But because my manager is unaware of the alarm industry and my job tasks with ads, he felt it was my fault and threatened me to take these classes or I would be written up.

Doesn't it seem odd that after I whistleblowed about salary fraud that he generated this ridiculous demand and then threatened me?

Because I expressed my concern about this and filed a formal complaint with the owner, the owner then had me meet with in-house legal counsel to discuss my complaint (are we serious?!). She said we would create a meeting to discuss it (which never happened). After I informed my manager I filed a complaint against him, he then fabricated an event which never happened - On April 1, 2022, I punched into the ADT system as I usually do to start my day (yes, even though I was salaried, I punched in/out and even for lunches).

A while after that, I was called into the managers office whereby he said he accepted my resignation - EXCUSE ME?! NEVER did I say or state that I quit my job. Why did I punch in to start my regular scheduled day if I quit? I told him he could never prove that because I never said it or stated it in any correspondence/email. He then handed me my last check. I was forced out the door.

An IT manager has NO right to force classes upon me due to his arrogance and retaliation and then threaten to terminate my employment (which ultimately he did). Prior to this, he delegated the google ad content creation to various departments/people who have no knowledge of google ads - this was indeed a direct retaliation by my manager and because of his arrogance, blamed me for "washing my hands" of the google ad maintenance because it was delegated to other parties. 

This goes without saying that the owner, Dave Roman, performed a hard inquiry on my credit - he was never authorized to do this and never told me he was doing this. I only found out when I logged into my credit profile to see what he did. A letter was sent to Dave Roman expressing my concerns over my managers lies, harrassment and threatening along with his insults to my many years of experience. My manager told me that Dave informed me that it's his department and he can do whatever he wants. Apparently he did.

This story surely declares that 2 departments need to be 2 seperate departments because arrogance played a vital role in my employment termination with a company who I did so much for - and I was kicked to the curb because I expressed my concerns with not only salary fraud, but my managers lying, insults, harrasment and threatening - all because he was arrogant in the alarm industry and my job tasks.
