the mortgage law group this company took $6500 dollars and did nothing and we almost lost our home chicago, Illinois

I hired this company back in July of 2011. After paying them $3500.00 in the first three months with no contact from them, I started calling them. When I was able to get a hold of them finally they just told me they haven"t heard from my lender. 

First red flag. They told me the needed more documents faxed, so I faxed them all requested documents within an hour. Again, never heard back from them except in e-mails and telling me they couldn't get a hold of my lender. This was November. They convinced me that everything was fine, that this takes time.

Second red flag. I contacted them by Email and phone every week after that. When I got an answer it was same old answer, "this process takes time"  Mean while, the foreclosure process had begun and they said they could help with what was called "foreclosure protection" for the price of $500.00 a month. Being scared of losing my home i did it.

Third red flag. still no contact and we are now in march of 2012. I have called and emailed still every week with no response. Finally on March 19, i received an email stating " I spoke with the lender today, and there is no way of speeding up the process. The lender is requesting all updated documents. " so within the hour i faxed all the documents to them. finally I heard back from them that all documents have been received

About a week letter i received a call saying it was too late, the lender had closed the modification because they did not receive the required documents in time. First off, I sent them on march 19, they confirmed receipt on march 23. Not much else I can do except call the lender, which I did. the odd thing is the lender said they requested the updated documents on March 2 from the mortgage law group. They sat on that request for 17 days before I got it and then sat on it for another week before contacting me.

Being told its done, I asked the lender if i could re-apply for a modification. They said yes, requested updated documents,and the good part of all this is within a month I was granted a trial period for modification. It starts on June 1 2012.

Even after cancelling our contract and stopping all payments for over a month, they still tried contacting the lender and tried getting information on my account. They had no right what so ever to contact my lender anymore. Our contract was terminated. 

The worst part of this whole thing is I have used up all my savings and have had to cash in some 401k to pay for their foreclosure protection. I am disabled collecting SSDI, and my wife has been layed off due to out sourcing after 16 years. I cant afford to start a class action suit and am not sure how to go about it anyway. This company is a joke and crooks. This is suppose to be a government program, how can the government be affiliated with these companies?  I know its the government but really!! 

If this helps anyone stay away from The mortgage law group great. They are crooks and only want your money and to leave you homeless.  Have faith in your lenders, they are the ones doing the modifications and dont really want your house anyway. worked for me   and i have all emails ever sent saved.
