I was defrauded by 3 coin companies in July and August. One case has been resolved. American Express refuses to help me. They do not consider this to be fraud since I have done business with the companies before.

The 1st company is Top Shelf Selections, Holbrook NY. They charged a total of $15,981 to my credit card and sent me coins. I have asked the company to issue an RMA letter and send a call tag. One of the charges was made when I was on vacation in New Mexico and could not authorize the charges. No charges after 6/24/09 were authorized. I am responsible for the above amount on my credit card. I never wanted the merchandise and want to return it, but am afraid to send anything back to them without a paper trail that is above a mail receipt. I also do not believe that I should be responsible for the expense of sending back these packages that I did not order. I have been in constant touch with American Express and have been given promises by Top Shelf for assistance which never came. By the time I heard back from the salesman, the return period had expired. I have been told by a lawyer that the return period is not enforceable. The offer that Top Shelf has given me is the following: 20% restocking fee; no credit to my credit card for balance, reimbursement in amt. of $1,000 a month until the total amount is repaid less restocking fee.

The 2nd case from Hunters Run Rarities Incorporated will follow. It is interesting that they are owned by the same people and they are offering the same return: 20% restocking fee, repayment over 19 months at $1,000 per month.

My credit card will go into default after this month and into collections soon after. I have done nothing wrong. I am a 61 year old senior citizen who is disabled and on a limited income. Can someone help me?

Top Shelf Ripoff

I was also defrauded by the same company, Top Shelf (TS). I tried to dispute the charges thru Chase Credit but to no avail was not sucessful.  This so called company (TS) has their game down.  I don't know what my recoarse is next?  I'm thinking about a complaint with the New York attorney Generals office in Suffolk county.  I feel for the person who wrote the other complaint and also beleive that this company should be closed down for good.  I to am on a fixed income and certainly can't afford to take a hit like this .  Top Shelf got me for $7,700.00 dollars for coins that are worth maybe $2,200.00, something needs to be done.
