I really regret my decision to ship with TGAL, which has been a lesson in the old saying "You get what you pay for."   Although their shipping quotes were better than most of their competitors,   the abysmal lack of customer service and failing to live up to the policies on their web site make this a company to be avoided.   I still don't have my car nearly 3 months after shipping it to Korea, and the problems are quite numberous.

#1 - Payment ..    TGAL offers several payment options including online bill pay, personal check, and paying by credit card, but every single one of these methods comes with a serious drawback.  If you choose credit card, they charge you a fee which is in direct violation of the credit card company merchant agreement,  and if you use a check they claim that you have to wait 10 days after the time send the check for processing.  The same can be said  of online bill pay.   The reason I say "claim" is because as a person who used online bill pay to pay from THE SAME BANK THEY USE,  I had to wait more than 22 days from the time payment was initiated for them to acknowledge the payment.

#2 - Communication -  No one in this office talks to each other or their overseas contacts.   They told me upon shipping that someone in Korea would contact me once the car arrived, but weeks after the estmated arrival date had come and gone,  I finally got worried and sent an inquiry.  The first email response said that they had sent my car to TAIWAN which is a completely different country, several thousand miles away. I pointed this out, and they corrected themselves and said it was probably delayed in Japan on the way to Korea....   The next day they email to say   the car arrived in Korea two and a half weeks ago, and no one either in Korea or in the USA decided that it might be a good idea to let me know about this.    THen they said that they couldn't release the car because they hadn't finished processing the payment that was sent a few weeks ago, but once they sent the release authorization someone in Korea would contact me.

Well... I talked to the folks in Korea and they told me they were still waiting for the release...  I contacted TGAL, and TGAL said that it was sent to them.   I said "Well you are telling me two different stories, they say they need the release or bill of landing, you say you sent it.  It sounds like someone from your office needs to get on the phone with them to straighten things out.  The response, and I quote directly from the email,  "We have never nor do we ever contact a destination agent on the customer’s behalf in order to avoid any confusions on the relay of information."    That's a lot like saying that the support that they provide at the destination that is advertised on their web site is a total fabrication.

When they finally got around to sending my title back to me to clear foreign customs (again several weeks after the car actually arrived at the destination) there was a printed invoice that said that I had not paid any shipping charges, and did not opt for insurance.  Obviously both of these items were false.   When I sent an email to ask about the discrepency, rather than a polite "I'm sorry that was printed in error.  Please disregard it" I recieved a paragraph long rant blaming me for not reading the electronic details of the contract that had been e-mailed before.   What am I supposed to think?  One person from their company says that they processed the insurance and payment, another sends a printed statement via FedEx overseas telling me the exact opposite.  Am I REALLY so far out of line to ask for a clarification?   As I said,  no one in this company seems to talk to each other.

Anyway... I am told several times that someone in Korea will contact me once the release has been promised.   I wait.... and wait... and wait...  Two weeks later, I contact TGAL to ask that they confirm that the release was processed, and they say yes.   The Korean receiver also confirms that it was processed....   almost two weeks ago... Almost right after the last string of emails    Once again communication has broken down...   People say they will be in touch after they have finished doing work on their end, and you never hear from them again.

If I hadn't demanded a status update nearly a month ago, they'd likely still be happy for me to believe that my car is somewhere between the USA, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea in the Pacific Ocean somewhere.

#3 Spam - Like many people, I have multiple e-mail addresses. I accidently sent my initial inquirey from one and then resumed talk of my order on the other.   That initial email address now gets spam from the company asking me if I'd still like to ship my car, even though it was shipped several months ago.   What happens when I reply to ask that I be removed from the mailing list?    The email is returned to me.    Apparently they like to send mass e-mails out, but don't like receiving massive responses back requesting to be taken off their list.

As I said before, I still haven't received my car, so I can't comment on the condition it will be in when I finally get it.  When I do, I will update this report.
