We booked a house back in March, for an April 13th through 18th stay. We live in Delaware and the rental is in Cape Cod, Mass, which is 8 hours away. We are now unable to travel there due to a non-essential travel ban as well as the event we were going to was canceled because of the new gathering restrictions.

We aren't even supposed to be there per nationwide instruction! I contacted the company via text as their website suggested and they refuse to refund us. Said they would only credit us but only until April 1 of next year. No one has any idea when this travel ban will end or this virus will be over. They only offered us the exact house we rented and for all we know that's booked up the entire time until their expiration date once this all clears up.

It is unethical and unprofessional. We have paid for goods we will not receive. They told me they appreciate my sentiments but they're keeping their policy. I've read numerous complaints about similar things for this company. There is literally a FB page designated to them called TurnKey Do the RIght thing! That is how badly this place treats people. We are out $1800 and didn't receive a single thing. That is stealing.

We only had one reason to be in Cape Cod and that is now canceled. We have no other reason to go up there and use their "credit" as they call it. They are clearly taking advantage of people during this time. This cancellation is not our doing. It is only due to a global pandemic and national emergency!! We want/need our money back and also want others to know that these people are scam artists. We paid for something we are not getting because we are simply obeying the restrictions our PRESIDENT has put in order. PLEASE HELP US. Our complaint is NOT the first to you guys regarding this, yet they are BBB accredited!

Refund my hard earned money...

AUTHOR: Michael - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, March 22, 2020

I had my date incorrect, we booked in February. Also, the homeowners aren't getting a dime of they money I spent to rent their house, think about that for a moment. One more thing, the company is more than likely going to tank after all this but the right thing to do is to refund people who are not receiving services. You can defend them but you won't when it's your turn. There is nothing more to respond to your response.

- Okay here is the thing. If you booked in March especially in the last couple of weeks, this possibility should have at least been on your "radar". So sorry if you don't get as much sympathy as someone who may have booked this 3-6 months ago.

This cancellation is not our doing. It is only due to a global pandemic and national emergency!!
- They didn't cause it either. Just like you want a refund, this is money they were expecting to use to maintain their business. Yes this sucks all around, but this is what it is right now.

On another more "Global" level, the people that rent their houses out are losing just as much as you...in fact more. You not being able to travel is causing other people to lose their income.  Who knows how much that cancelled event is costing businesses and the people they employee, but I can guarantee you it is significantly more than the money you spent.   If this goes on for too long MANY businesses may have severe struggles.

We want/need our money back and also want others to know that these people are scam artists.
- There is a BIG difference between "want" and "need". You were willing to spend $1800 on this vacation just a couple of weeks ago, so if you now "need" it and the only reason you are cancelling is because the event was cancelled then you honestly shouldn't have rented it in the beginning. Right now they are likely following their policy with perhaps some adjustments, these are policies you agreed to when you originally rented the house.

They only offered us the exact house we rented and for all we know that's booked up the entire time until their expiration date once this all clears up.
- "For all you know"? You were able to book this house just a month before you needed it at about $300/night.

Nothing you have shown here they are "price gouging" on next years rates. If the rates are too high, people won't book(this isn't an ESSENTIAL), if people don't book they will have to lower the rates.

Once things stablize more, and they will at some point, it is likely that their policies may adust. Many businesses who started out with various policies have since adjusted...you just need to be patient and give it a bit of time.

Good Luck...and Stay Safe
