I ordered two lights from Christine at Vintage Barn Lights from Appleton, WI over the course of a year. Both were defective. In each case, the switch or pull chain that comes out of the socket did not work.
The second one was particually defective.
The moment after I hung the light, the turn-switch on the side of the socket pulled out with my fingers!!! After texting the owner (Christine), I took the socket apart and it was clear to me that it was never worked on or restored. Broken pieces of insulation or parts of a dry-rotted gasket fell out. The mechanics of the switch were rattleling around inside the socket. There is no way the light fixture I purchased could have been worked on or tested prior to shipping.
The owner corrected the problem, but I had to repack the defective socket and send it back to here (I paid for the shipping). Vintage Barn Lights, in turn, shipped me a new socket. Of course, I had to reassemble and wire the socket myself once I received it. I paid top dollar ($279) only to have to do all of (or most of) the wiring work myself.
Vintage Barn Lights, LLC charges top dollar for these fixtures. It ought to deliver a better product to its customers.

I sell restored and refurbished ANTIQUE previosly used lamps and parts, we clean, repair and replace broken parts and all lamps are tested and in working condition when they are packed. These are very fragile and can break very easily especially when a buyer is uncertain of what they are doing, especially when turning a 100 year old knob made of porcelain, in this case we replaced the part that did break with another 100 year old socket. All of these concerns are inherent to antique lamps parts and all concerns were addressed.
