Okay, to start, I will say that I never, ever assumed I would have issues with a credit/gift/money card (whatever you wish to call it) from such a big company as Walmart. This is the reason I felt it absolutely necessary to write this report because I know there are many consumers who feel the same way and I'd hate to see them duped like yours truly.

First off, they make it incredibly hard to activate your card. When you dial the number on the back, they will prompt you to enter a social security number and this was not something I wanted to do at the time. So it was, in fact, just a gift card and as the representatives reminded me (every chance they got) I wouldn't receive a permanent card without that information, which was fine. Well then I went on to, at least, register my billing information so that I would not have issues with online transactions.

Everything was okay until there were funds that were deposited back onto the card. Well one of many inconvenieces is that everyone I speak to seems to speak very little English and they all told me their own version of "the truth" of why this amount never appeared back on the card.

At first, I thought it was the company that was supposed to credit me back but it was confirmed that it wasn't them and they did issue the funds back to the card. This was actually confirmed by a Walmart Money card representative who told me, "I see the credit but since the card is just temporary, it was deactivated." So after arguing for over an hour (about how I was to receive my funds), at one point he even suggested that the company that issued a refund, send me a check for the amount instead AFTER they already refunded me. What?!!

He finally agreed to send out a check in 10 business days but he needed to tell me that there was a monthly maintenence fee that was deducted. I didn't understand this and asked why. He told me that even though I didn't have the card for at least 30 days, they still get that fee for "future" account assistance?????? 'blank stare'

How does that make any sense and I also needed to state that they deducted this same "fee" just two weeks prior. Now all this happened within 3 weeks, which is exactly the length of time I had this card. Not to mention, I'm still waiting on this supposed check.

Oh and by the way, when I call their customer service number, it automatically disconnects me after giving me an automated message that my check has already been mailed with no option of speaking to a representative the minute I type in my card number. HORRIBLE to the nth degree!
