This is a lead Generation Company!! Not a remodeling company people.

Let me explain how these companies work. They Generate Leads (prospects, customers). Through old school Marketing agenda's. A. Big box stores. They promote out of Bj's stores where they hold a fake raffle in effort to get your name and number to call you repeatedly. B. They canvass door to door. Yes the people who knock on your door and start rambling a generic sales pitch. C. the most honest form, Home shows. ( At least these prospects are shopping home improvement. All the names pulled by these three sources goes to the phone room. Telemarketers. We all love telemarketers and they call and call to get an Appointment.

This is where it gets fun. They send a professional salesperson. And when I say professional I mean a person your probably wouldn't associate yourself with much less let into your home. This guy is fully trained to present a 3 hour long presentation. Now you have to understand how these company works. They have vendor contracters with off brand material companies. (window, roof, siding etc. So they pitch these incredible warranties. (which every single home improvement products come with a warranty). but they are tranined to make you believe they are the only company that offers such a magnificent piece of mind.

Then they close the deal by offering 100 % FINANCING!! no most likely the local contracter can't offer that so this is a nice feature.  and alot of people break at this point because they just feel its easier to get the finacing through the company then go through the trouble of going to the bank. Plus they can delay payment and offer low rates. Well these rates change after time and most people are paying around 28% interest when it is all said and done. Should have just went to the bank.

We haven't got to the kicker yet. Yankee prices their services about 30-40% higher than the averge Joe Contractor. But wait, it gets even better. After they secure your business, they subcontract the work out to the average Joe contractor. This is correct people. Yankee has no contractors on payroll. They sub contract all the work out!!! How is that a contracting Business one might ask?

So instead of just going to the local contractor yourself you paid yankee to do it for you. You paid the Marketers (telemarketers, promoters and canvassers) the sale manager, the receptions, and the greedy owner instead of just paying for windows.

If a company has got your name and number by a raffle or knocking on your door than it is a lead generation company. Don't be fooled. The products that yankee offers are inferior. He buys in bulk and gets the material for cheap!!

Yankee Home Improvement Best Practices

AUTHOR: Tom P - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Yankee Home Improvement, in my opinion, provides a valuable service to the homeowner and to its sub-contractors.

Not all contractors are equal. Some have their own sales force, while many do not.

You call a contractor, who givees you a low ball offer and you accept. He offers no financing, so you give him 50% deposit. He delivers the job 6 weeks late, leaves your home in a mess, while he takes his annual 3 week vacation. He is not professional. He does not know how to sell, so he takes jobs from companies, like Home Depot, and Yankee.

Quality contractors charge more, due to unforseen risks on a project. You, the consumer, hate to be told about unforseen risks and are upset about delays. A professional company, like Yankee, makes the process smoother for you. For most homeowners, this makes sense.

However, if you work in the industry, you already know who is reliable and who is not, so you can sub the work yourself. That is fine, but most homeowners rely on the sales person for advice. Hopefully, it is good advice.

Yankee benefits the cosumer, by vetting out the contractor, who does the work, to insure quality work and floow up to insure the homeowner is happy. Yankee fscilitates financing for the homeowner.

Home Depot, Lowes, Yankee, Power Remodeling, and may others follow this method. Having good systems in place meeans better service to the consumer.

Would you just pick someone off of Craigslist and go with them?

My disclaimer: As of 7/14/2015, I have not had any conversations with, or have worked with Yankee. I was looking for a contractor and visited their website and saw their reviews. I operate a lead generation business and understand how they operate, but they are not a customer of mine.
