Rec'd a fax at the office in Feb 08 and called. Since I was looking to buy new health insurance and I have a pre-existing condition, I asked about that- they said it was ok. Asked to see some documentation about it and they said it would all be mailed to me, after I signed up. Also said that my insurance would be effective as soon as they got my money ($125 deposit plus first month $199), but it turned out that it wasn't effective until the first day of the following month, so my health insurance record shows a break in coverage.

I see my Dr once a month and his office handles claims and he said that he accepts Beech Street. But, this "Claims and Benefit" corporation handles the claims and they have thus far denied all of my Dr's claims.

I called in July to ask about it and they said they needed a certificate of credible coverage from my previous insurance, which I faxed. Then in October my Dr had a new statement of denial and when I called CBM they said that there was a note in my file that said they rec'd the statement but that they couldn't find it and the girl who handled it was no longer there.

I refaxed the statement last week, then called back today. These people don't sound like they know what they're doing so I started to think that they are not legit. The girl today said that two claims are in process but that they have been backlogged, that they only write checks on the 1st and the 15th and that there are two other claims pending, but that they do have my statement of credible coverage.

I pressed even further and asked why then, if they had my statement from July, did I have to refax it, and why are they still denying claims if she just told me that they are in process and have my statement of credible coverage. She put me on hold, then came back to tell me that they have the copy but it's not "scanned into the system" and that the girl who does that is out for the day. I asked when I should call back and she said some time next week.

I am afraid to try to cancel this insurance because I do have a pre-existing condition and I can't have a break in coverage because I cannot go on a 12-month wait period if I do cancel and try to find another insurance. So far all this insurance has done for me is take my $2,000 and rip-off my Dr.
