I first started using this service to get a break on the outrageous collect calls from my fiance from prison.They seemed on the up and up and for awhile things went smooth. I am a very high volume user so needless to say they were making a mint off me. I started noticing our calls were being disconnected as soon as they were connected and that I was charged every single time so I went to the company and told them something was wrong with my line. I also asked for a credit for the disconnected calls.
I got no response and had to send repeated emails. When I called the office , the workers who are rude beyond belief kept stone walling me and after getting my name they would tell me he wasnt in the office.
After I refused to place anymore money on my account I recieved a credit for 5.00. The call cost for disconnected calls that week alone were 96.00. I kept detailed records of the calls coming in and which connected, which didnt and what I got charged for.
When I asked for someone to please either fix the problem or credit me with the money it took from me I was ignored for yet another three weeks and then finally recieved a very rude email from Brian Prins stating I could either deal with it or find another company , He made it a point to point out that I was saving hundreds and complaining over peanuts. I hardly call 96.00 for a single mom in one week peanuts. He admitted he was making money off my account and the case was closed.
When I rebutted with an email telling him I would contact the BBB and also the fcc He terminated my account without notice and also did not refund the money I still had on my prepaid phone account. I have asked and asked for a refund and recieved no response and no refund. You have to watch this company close but you will notice how they ever so sneakingly cypher money off your account and hope you wont notice.
They are simply taking advantage of people who are trying to get some break on the exspensive calls from there loved ones locked away in prison. There calls are 3.95 cent a piece with a 26.95 line charge per month and after they finish skimming off of you your not really saving anything. My fiance called in one day 32 times. We were connected only 5 times. Those 32 times I was charged 2.95 per call. Add that up and youll see its not peanuts.
BEWARE OF THIS PREPAID CHEAPER PRISON PHONE SERVICE.

I read his rebuttal and boy what a laugh . I handled most of my complaints via email and the times I did call I called from work and I work for a very christian company so I can see me ranting and raving and cursing in front of them ...not hardly ...There were many times I would have loved to believe me but I was raised with manners and do not treat people as such nor do I tell false hoods . His refund policy by the way is as follows :
REFUNDS
Refunds are granted at the SOLE discretion of Outside Connection. Any refunds that are granted will be paid between (4) four and (6) six weeks after the end of services. NO REFUNDS as a right to any subscriber exist under this agreement in any way, shape, or form. Outside Connection has the right to deny refunds to any person who cancels service before the end of (6) six full months of service.
{Note: Refunds are usually granted to those subscriber(s) that have a material reason for canceling service with Outside Connection. Example of a material reason; the person changed facilities and Outside Connection cannot give service in that new facility.}
See that top line? You tick them off ..they disconnect you and keep your money . I wanted my line fixed and called every single person that had anything to do with the phones . The prison ...evercom ...you name it ....it all went back to who forwards the calls . I cant believe he says you cannot recieve more then 20 calls a day ....I have recieved up to 42 calls a day sometimes ....there is no limit on it ...its all in how much cash you want to give to them . He wouldnt pay the prison phone company so they kept blocking my line even though OC was paid in full by me ...
Brian tried to get me to PURCHASE another line from him to prevent this and I did for a short time until I got wise to the fact if he just sent evercom what I had already paid the line wouldnt be blocked so why should I pay for two lines with OC??? ONTO his other false tale - I have a screen shot of my actual account showing the 32 disconnected calls ....
It also shows where you are charged a 2.95 connection fee as well as the .17 per call ....do the math . Upon request I will be happy to show my records as well as emails from and to the company and screen shots of my account . I have all the proof to dispute what he claims . If this was such a miracle company then the other companies that offer this service wouldnt be in buisness now would they ....
There are reasons people shop around ... DEFINATLY WATCH YOUR ACCOUNT WITH THESE PEOPLE .

I will gladly share with anyone even thinking of using this company . You can see for yourself how he treats people . Never once have I ever cursed him or used foul language and since I always called them from my job I highly doubt I raised my voice . The part about no more then 20 calls coming is allowed ..total lie ...I have that printed out from my actual account also .
I recieved over 30 to 40 calls a day most days on a regular basis and this worked very well until Brian wouldnt pay the phone company that the calls are routed through and I was disconnected constantly . His solution? Buy another line from him . Oh yes rip me off some more . I did this for awhile . I put my foot down and said no more . I recieved a rude reply from Brian on that one too . Somehow I did just fine on one line after that . It wasnt until January the disconnections came .
I called the prison facility ...not a problem on there end . The problem was outside connections and there delayed forward . They have a 2.95 cent connection fee on top of the 17 cent charge ....he left that part out shockingly when he spewed his rebuttal .I noticed he also failed to mention the fact he never refunded my money that was still on the account when he decided he no longer needed me as a customer . The truth of that is ..as I can show in emails to and from him ...I had already recieved a quote from another company and had intended to use the money left on my account and then disconnect it but one last time Brian had to scam me and steal my money that was on my account . He has been reported to the BBB and the FCC also has a complaint on him ..they were very intrested in what I had to say as well as the ducumentation I provided .
The reason I kept this service for so long is frankly as family of a prisoner you are held hostage by the long distance companies ...what choice do we have?? Well we do have choices and I will tell you you do not have to stand for Brians lies or abuse ...there are other companies who offer this service who dont toot there own horn every chance they get and treat there customers like crap and then lie threw there teeth on them . Shop around . I most assure you I have ever crying moment I spent with that company copied . I saved every email and printed out my statement from my account for 4 months watching them rip me totally off .

Shannon claims that my company was "making a mint' off her usage. Lets be clear, this company does NOT make a mint off of ANY customer. We make a very reasonable profit and do not rip people off like MCI for instances.
Calls were being disconnected by the CORRECTIONAL FACILTY and NOT by this company. This was explained to Shannon but, as par for the course, she did not want to believe it, accept it, or deal with it. As an offer of proof, we called her line directly and spent time speaking with her on it. It never disconnected and she was given complete credit for the test calls. As for credit, she is a LIAR point blank when she says she was not give credits by me personally! I gave her credits IN GOOD FAITH that this company would not be billed for them. The company was billed and the company ate the costs WITHOUT back billing her. She states in emails that she knows we did not pay for these calls. We, since she gets my company bills, and pays them I guess, she would know. Pointedly, she is a liar because, I told her I would not give her ANYMORE credits until the master bill came in and SHE DID NOT LIKE IT.
As for my staff being RUDE! This is VERY far from the truth. Shannon is a loud mouth to them and they take it from her as the tapes have shown. When Shannon does not get HER WAY, she screams like a two year old in need of a nap! She is out of her mind to state 6 different employees of this company are always rude to her. She says that because they will not bow to her wants and wishes. This is a for profit company Shannon and you came to US to save money almost two years ago!!!! We saved you TONS and you complain weekly that it is not enough!!!! As for me being in the office or out of it. I am out on business several hours per day trying to earn a living and keep my company GROWING. I have no time for CRY BABIES that make DEMANDS to my staff everyday and that is what Shannon does CONSTANTLY!!!!!
Shannon states that the total was $96.00 dollars. She is completely OUT OF HER MIND!!!! These calls were $.17 CENTS each and there were approximately 32 in total on her account for the last several months!!! I think that is just over $5 bucks!!!!!! Not to mention the credit she was given as previously stated.... That was $15.00 dollars that the company should never have given her....
She was disconnected from service by this company not because she is making a complaint to the BBB or any other agency.... She wrote in several emails that this company is a SCAM. That is a PERSONAL insult to me and the hard work I have done HELPING people and my staff does EVERYDAY!!! The TONS of emails from people so grateful to this company received on a DAILY basis..... The NY TIMES article written about me and the company of 9-5-04 on the front page of the Business Section!!!!
This insult was one of MANY I took and it had to stop. Just because she spends money with a company, mine or another, does NOT give her the right to act like an idiot, scream, curse, or in general ABUSE those she is paying for a service. I do not need, or want her as a customer and I surely do not need her money to survive!!!! I need, and want customers that call with any type of troubles to wait for a finding. Then accept the finding of WHERE the trouble lies.... It was NOT this company that had the trouble and she REFUSED to accept that. Fourtunately, there are very few troubles with ANY customers service. The type of trouble Shannon had, has NEVER been reported before and is just an outrageous lie most of the time.
Finally, the claim that her loved one called 32 times in one day in pure LIES! It is NOT possible to get that many calls in the system. We STOP this to ensure service errors and it is not permitted to make more then a total of 20 calls per day in ANY event! This is to help control the costs people are paying and if you need that many calls in one day, it would be handled through a different avenue.
Finally, in closing if Shannon was so unhappy with the company, why did she continue with service for almost a year after her complaints started. There is only one reason I know of, we are t he best, we are the ONLY licensed lower prison collect call company. There are two others that have no licenses but operate anyway. We are the only ones that actually reply to emails and answer the phone for 13 hours per day that we are open. Not to mention that Shannon was saving THOUSANDS of dollars!
