Iron Age Corp., David Eckert, Ceo, Gary Lortie Cfo ripoff- Knapp Shoes, Ironage owes survivor since 1976, undisclosed debt Westbourough Massachusetts

From 1972 until 1976 my father,until his death, worked for Knapp Shoes / Iron age as a outside sales rep.

After packing his personal belongings up and storing those in my garage for over thirty years, i elected to move to florida. and had even forgoten i had his things boxed up.

During the move one of the boxes broke open ,and a plastic voucher was revealed. It contained many personal items of my fathers, but also contained Un-Cashed Payroll checks that were overlooked when i packed his things up in 1976.

After moving, and settleing in florida, i desided to contact the Knapp Shoe Company in an attempt retreive monies from the un-cashed payroll checks. I scaned the checks and emailed those initaly to their accounting department. After a week passed, and no reply i contacted the CFO - Mr. Gary Lortie.

His reply was, their was really nothing he could do beacuse of the age of the checks!

This really puzzled me; beacuse the amount of the monies was miniscule, compaired simply to the princpal of the matter.. They owed the money, had never sent any notice that the checks exsisted, have had use of the funds over thirty years, and now want to dodge the subject all together..

So i did a small calculation of my self and asked the question, what is the right thing to do here.

My conclusion was, this is a public company with an outstanding debt of thirty years.. Undisclosed most likely, and yet they want to decline any libality. That prompts this posting.

Like i said, the amount of the money was miniscule, but with others in mind that may be or have encountered similar or same circumstances with this outfit, it is time it is brought to some ones attention.
