In May of 2008 Kristen Campbell and myself entered in a verbal agreement to trade a black and red female german shepherd for a bi colored german shepherd female she was selling. The dog was shipped to Ms. Campbell on May 29th thru Northwest airlines to the airport of her choice. Dog was picked up by Ms. Campbell.

On July 7, 2008 I emailed Ms. Campbell with concerned I had regarding many complaints about her business ethics and scamming buyers etc. and told her I was worried about whether or not I would really get the bi colored b***h we agreed on. She stated she would ship her whenever I requested. She also stated that she would mail the females AKC papers along with other papers on this dog the following day from the post office via Priority Mail.

Well it is July 22,2008 and I still have not dog. Ms. Campbell has decided not to answer the phone, or return any of my voicemails I have left, nor does she answer my emails to her or my text messages to her cellphone. Ms. Campbell has decided that it is more beneficial to keep both dogs. She has bred the bi colored b***h I was supposed to get (I approved the breeding to her male and in return she would get one puppy back for stud fee). Now I find out she is going to sell the pups and has set a price for the pups.

Kristen Campbell DBA: Smithhaus K9's is a scammer, a liar and will take advantage of anyone or anything that will make her a quick buck. She has been filed on before for being deceptive and has also been thrown out of the Border Collie Association for decpetive practices also.

I came across this report and felt the need to post my experience with Kristen. I have purchased two German Shepherd puppies from her and have nothing but good things to say. She was easy to get in touch with, answered all of my questions promptly and thoroughly, both before and after the sales. She kept in touch with me while I was waiting for my puppy to reach 8 weeks and be ready to pick up, sent updates, pictures, and videos every couple of weeks, which was wonderful considering how excited I was about getting a new puppy! I was allowed to visit her and her dogs on several different occassions and every time the dogs were clean, healthy, and happy. They are not kept kenneled, all are very social and well trained, and are very devoted to her. She considers them part of her family and it is evident that they are treated as such, which is a nice change from the typical kennels where dogs are caged like livestock and puppies are treated as commodities, on sale to the first person who comes along with the money. I purchased two puppies from two different litters, one a year and a half ago, and one a few months ago. Both of my puppies were vet checked totally healthy, were extremely well socialized, were accustomed to being in a crate, walking on a leash, taking a bath, riding in a car, and playing with toys. Housetraining went smoothly, neither of our puppies went through a night of whining, anxiety of being seperated from littermates, being in new surroundings, etc. It was very obvious that Kristen had spent a great deal of time with them and worked hard to make the transition to a new home easy on us and the pups. My older puppy has been OFA prelimed good hips and normal elbows. He has also received his AKC Canine Good Citizen and is in training for Schutzhund. The training director at our club likes him very much and suggested I purchase a pup from the same litter when I told him I was considering getting another pup, so I did, but I would have done so regardless, as I had an excellent experience with Kristen the first time around. I have recommended her to several people, and a co worker/friend of mine bought a pup from her about a year ago and is also extremely pleased with her pup. We both still keep in touch with Kristen, send her updates, pictures, etc, and she is always happy to hear from us, answer questions, etc. I have horses also, as does Kristen...I saw her farm and horses while there, learned she also boards/trains/markets horses. I know from experience that the horse world is a small one and if she were not an honest person, there would be stories about it all over. I have only heard good things, and many good things for that matter. While at her place and meeting all the animals, I was introduced to two rescue dogs she had taken in, both came to her in poor health....she told me what had to be done to them at the vet, as well as the training she had done with them to make them more adoptable. I'm sure this was expensive, as well as time consuming, and not something that many people, especially breeders, will do, knowing they are not going to make a profit from it. I consider my dogs a part of my family, and have spent a great deal of time talking with Kristen, on the phone, in person, and via email, so much so that I no longer consider her just a breeder I bought my dogs from, but a friend. I have been a VA State Trooper for 13 years, have met all types in that time, and feel I have a good sense of a person's character. I have to say I just cannot believe that Kristen would ever intentionally do wrong by anyone. I have talked with her since reading the above account, heard her side of the story, and I do believe she is telling the truth. I feel that the person that posted this account was upset that the dealings did not go her way so decided to misconstrue the truth in an effort to hurt Kristen's reputation. The unfortunate thing about this website and others like it is that anyone can post anything about anyone! There does not have to be any fact, no proof...the poster can remain totally anonymous. A total stranger can post a negative and totally false report about someone they've never even had dealings with if they so choose. True one can dispute the report but often the damage has been done and it's only one's word against another. In this situation, customers will often avoid the business in question just to be safe. This is absolutely unfair. For this reason, I felt the need to post...if you are considering doing business with Kristen, please take the time to talk with her, visit her farm, meet the dogs/puppies, and I'm sure you will have the same positive experience that I and many others have had doing business with her. Just take a look at her testimonials page. I'm not posting this to help her sell more puppies...I know she doesn't have trouble finding homes for them, regardless of this report....I just feel this is a very unfair situation and wanted to share my experience. Thank you to those who take the time to read my post.

There are two sides to every story....

AUTHOR: Kristen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 04, 2009

All I have to say is that there are two sides to every story. This person and I had a disagreement over a transaction and had a hard time working out the details. I never tried to scam her, rip her off, steal her dog, or whatever other claims she has made. The transaction was initiated by her, all the details were her ideas, but I backed out of the deal when the dog she sent me was not as advertised, as I felt was my right to do. I would not send her my dog that she wanted to trade for, as the one she sent me was not what she told me it was. I took good care of her dog while it was in my care. With the help of the authorities, we were able to come to an agreement that I was, and still am, satisfied with. She is not, as she obviously still feels the need to bad mouth me to anyone and everyone possible. If one does business of any sort long enough, there is bound to be a disagreement of some sort...I did try very hard to work it out amicably, which I feel was the best I could do. I feel that my dogs and my breeding program speak for themselves, along with the long list of references from satisfied customers. As always, anyone is welcome to visit our farm and the dogs at any time. All our dogs/puppies are sold with a written guarantee, contract stating all terms of the transaction, bill of sale, and AKC registration papers are given at the time the dog/puppy is picked up or shipped. We can provide additional references from trainers, veterinarians, other breeders, and other professionals who know us to be honest and reputable breeders. Anyone who has any questions, feel free to call or email at any time. Visit our website for dozens of pictures, info, and references from customers.

Kristen Campbell, Smithhaus K9 has changed Website name to Herz Vier German Shepherds

AUTHOR: Scammed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 10, 2009

This is just an update for those prospective puppy or dog buyers that are considering purchasing from this person. Just For Your Information so you can make an informative decision. Kristen Campbell did have a website and kennel name of Smithhaus K9 in Glade Springs, VA. She has now given herself a new kennel name and has a new website. It is called Herz Vier German Shepherds. This person is still the same and has not changed. This is the same person because all her dogs are the same. I will never do business with her and there are many others that are less than happy with Ms. Campbells business ethics. Should you choose to do business with her, all I can say is at least do your research about her. Make certain you dot all your "i's" and cross all your "t's". Make sure you are given all registration papers and ask for a vet. exam before handing over any money. Don't be fooled by this person and don't let your name be added as another one her crooked deals. Good Luck

Smithhaus K9, Kristen Campbell, Rockinrkranch, Kristen Campbell, Rockinrkranch Deceptive Breech of Contract, verbal agreement Glade Spring Virginia

AUTHOR: Scammed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 27, 2008

On Aug. 18, 2008 Kristen Campbel requested I remove my complaint from this site if I wanted my dog returned to me (read initial complaint to understand what is going on). I informed her that I could not remove my complaint but that I had updated it to reflect she was graciously going to give me my dog back and was going to let me board her at the vets (at my expense) since she was going out of town. Well surprise, surprise she lied, she informed me if I wanted her I had to remove my complaint of which I updated it, then she decided that she would not take me dog to the vet as agreed unless I refund her $300.00 she paid to ship my dog. Keep in mind, she did not hold up her end of our agreement, instead she insisted I drive to Virginia from Texas and personally pick up my dog. I tried to arrange shipping at my expense and she said she was much to busy to ship her. In informed her that my father was having surgery and I could not drive to Virginia, but since she is heartless she said "I had to pick her up or send someone to pick her up". First it was "pick up the dog or I'll get rid of it" and then it was "Don't come to my house I will not be here and neither will your dog." That left me wondering what is she going to do with my dog, is there a chance she may kill her or just dump her. A friend of mine and I rented a car and drove to Virginia 15 hours (unbeknownest to Kristen, since she had already told me she was going out of town, I made sure to go on a day she would be there) and after arriving decided to stop at the local Sheriff's Dept. for some assistance. Well bottomline was it was brought to her attention that she still had 2 dogs in her possession and we were there to pick up a dog and that she had not held up her end of our agreement. She kept bringing up refunding the money until again she was reminded that, she was to pay shipping for her dog and I was to pay shipping for my dog. I had shipped her a dog, and she did not, so my trip out to Virginia was my paying for shipping. She was less than cooperative and lied to the detective through most of the interview, which only made our case stronger because now she was lieing to him. Long story short, I was able to pick up my dog and start on our drive home. I won't say she was in horrible condition, but she smelled so bad the windows had to be rolled down all the way home. All 15 hrs. Her nails had not been trimmed in 2 1/2 months she looked like "Elvira Mistress of the Dark" and she growled and cowered in the back of the crate she was left in. And Kristen has stated that she was very well socialized, taken to training and fattened up. There is no telling what my dog was subjected to while in the care of this person and I am escatic to get her back. By the time we were half way there, my dog was her old self again almost as to say, I'm back with my mom. This has been a terrible lesson for me and it is a shame that countless others will and are being scammed by this person. She also buys and sells horses and works with a rescue also. This account has been shortened but I will say that the name Kristen Campbell will not be forgotten by this detective and when her name comes across his desk again he will remember her lies and won't be so nice next time. Beware of this person, she is like a "WOLF in SHEEPS CLOTHING" I might add also Kristen and her fiance have potty mouths and a bad temper. All of these accounts are true because they happened to me, with a witness that went along as the driver.

Smithhaus K9, Kristen Campbell, Rockinrkranch, Kristen Campbell, Rockinrkranch Deceptive Breech of Contract, verbal agreement Glade Spring Virginia

Kristen Campbell, Smithhaus K9 has agreed to return dog.

AUTHOR: Scammed - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 18, 2008

On August 8, 2008 Kristen Campbell DBA: Smithhaus K9, Rockinrkranch has agreed to return my black and red female german shepherd dog. In my compaint I stated that she had refused to send me a bi-colored german shepherd female in place of the female I shipped. Well we have since reached an agreement and I will personally be driving down to Virginia to pick up my dog. Kristen has been kind enough to work with me so that I can pick my dog up at the vet's office where she will be boarded on Wed. Aug. 20, 2008 awaiting my arrival. I publically would like to thank her for deciding to return my dog. I therefore release her from any complaint I might have in this ripoff report.
