I was the defendant in my case with Michael J. Shew, Ltd Attorney At Law, esquire :)
He is very dishonest, misconceiving, and will twist anything he can.

I didn't have an attorney at first and Michael J. Shew, Ltd Attorney At Law really took advantage of that by showing false documents, along with court papers that I had not seen until that day (basic snake in the grass attorney move), and made false accusations toward me and my family to get us riled up. He will wait until the last minute to submit anything to you to gain any kind of advantage that he can. I don't know why the courts allow him to do this?

Fortunately I obtained a good honest attorney and won my case. My ex. wife who had hired him, fired him that day.. and is still having problems with him.

Lesson learned here.. you don't have to be a cheating, conniving attorney to win your case.

I used Mike Shew 6 months ago for two tasks. Child support revision and protecting my 3 year old son's last name from unecessary being changed.
Mike gave me a accurate account to what would probably happen and he told me how much it would cost up front. From having a past bad experience with another attorney, I was reluctant to use anyone. But Mike took several calls and answered some important questions for me without charging me a dime before I even retained him. When I did retain him and went to court, everything that he told me that would happen did. He was also accurate on the amount of money he quoted me to accomplish the tasks. I would never expect everyone to have a happy ending when dealing in the attorney world, but I was pleased with my results and I thought Mike did a great job for me.

Mike Shew is not only a crook; he is the laughing stock of all attorneys. Judges have no respect for him, and the only awards he gets is probono work after he screws up a case. He persuades you with a free consultation, and promises how much he can get you. Next thing you know he isn't returning your calls. You have to threaten a bar complaint, and even then he doesn't remember who you are.

Check out his complaint record, it is most definitely not squeaky clean. Very unethical. He violated federal and state laws. Is this the kind of attorney you want representing you........NOT.

This man is fat, smelly and needs to invest in a shaver. The only thing your money went to was to be his wife a screwed up boob job that sags down to her waist I need she is need of a face left and definitely a weave since she some what looks like a dude.

My name is Michael Shew. I am the attorney complained of in this Ripoff Report.

The complainant is not and has never been my client. I represented her children's father at a child support modification hearing. My client alleged that she had a history of emotional instability and drug use.

The complainant refused a reasonable offer to resolve the child support issues at the hearing she referenced and asked for a hearing in front of a judge. The complainant took this position despite knowing that the Arizona Assistant Attorney General, on behalf of the Arizona Department of Economic Security, believed the father's offer was fair. As a result we had to ride from the 11th Floor conference room to the 5th Floor hearing room.

The complainant, her "advisor", the Asst. Attorney General, my client and myself were waiting in front of the elevators on the 11th floor to ride down to the 5th floor. While we were waiting I specifically recall the Asst. Attorney General told the complaintant (for the second time) that she needed to ride down to the 5th floor so we could resolve the case before the judge left for lunch at noon. I never told the complainant that the hearing would be after lunch. In fact, I advised her that I had to appear in another court after lunch and would not be able to attend the hearing after lunch.

I did not ask the complainant to watch her children to prevent her from attending the hearing. Every conversation I had with the complainant occurred in the presence of the Asst. Attorney General who can corroborate that the complainant was advised by her to take the elevator to the 5th floor to attend the hearing before the judge left for lunch at noon. The complainant was never told by myself or the Asst. Attorney General that the hearing would take place after lunch.

The complainant filed a complaint against me with the State Bar of Arizona. The complaint was investigated by an attorney. The investigating attorney determined that there was no probable cause to believe that I committed a violation of the Ethics Rules. I was forced to spend a significant amount of money to hire an attorney to represent me in the bar discipline proceedings.

The simple fact is that the complainant's report is not accurate and unfairly recounts the true facts of the matter and falsely accuses of conduct that a disciplinary body has determined to be untrue. I have represented hundreds of individuals in family court proceedings since 1995 and I have a good reputation as a very competent family court attorney.

Lawyers DO police their own. This is why, in most if not all states, the legal profession is governed by the state bar as opposed to the general commercial licensing agency.

If the reporter has a concern with his representation, he has multiple aveues of recourse: he can retain a separate attorney and file a legal malpractice claim; he can retain a separate attorney and file a breach of contract claim; or he can file a complaint with the state bar (not the bar association, but the arm of the supreme court that regulates attorneys).

Of all professions, lawyers are pretty much top-notch when it comes to "policing their own." Whether a consumer wants to take advantage of the rights afforded to him is a different story.
