to all customers who shop at ross, Iam a child of an employee who has seen my mother come home many of night crying because of this place Ross treats there customers like gold why the rip off the store I have seen customer carry purses in the store and had them stand in front of me and stuff the purse full of mech what can you do there is no security and the employees have no safty from the people who call them self bosting from the store to resale the clothes at a higher price on streets. I have watched them switch tags and try to purchase the mech and they do how wrong for the one who are honest. I am very upset with ross they are slave drivers customer are rude and tend to be irate with staff due to long lines and long waits but it all starts with the customers. for one ross cuts payroll daily to save money and make them company richer than they are already. They buy the clothes at cheap prices from closeout stores or left over from the season before dirt cheap prices yes there price are great but customer svc lacks due to to payroll cuts on daily basis and then customers are mad because of the wait and you cant blame the young lady ck you out blame the company not the girl who ck you out and barely make 6.00 a hr and maybe 20 hours at the most and Customers are rude and impatient take the time to realize its not there fault or the managers fault. ross is a slave driving company with a bunch of rude customers who need to complain to coorprate not the store employees so next time you shop at ross think about this.

Ross

AUTHOR: Laura - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, February 23, 2018

Recently at work I talked to a person named Carlos regarding losses that I have caused to the company He than made me sign a paper stating that I will pay back $175 dollars. $175 that I have caused the company in losses, He proceeded to ask if I can pay back the losses. However I comply by signing the document because I was scared of losing my job. I Also wrote about what we talked about that day and signed too. After that He left the office so I asked my manager for copies of those papers and they said they couldnt give me any because the case was still open.Never did I once said I stole anything I did said that I problaby made a mistake or probably got confused obviouslty I am not going to steal stuff When I have been workin at Ross for almost 4 years now. People make mistakes all the time. They told me I was going to be put on paid leave until the investigation is complete and I was going to receive a call back telling me when I could be back at work. So on Friday I left early from work and I never heard anything back from them until right now Tuesday a voice mail from the assitance manager saying that "I could go pick up my last pay". Until right now I have no idea what is goin on with the investagation but I guess the outcome of it is me getting terminated from work throught a voice mail. It took me by surprice that I was fired theough a voice mail without any reason unless she was planning on telling me why when I go get the check. I guess it was fun working at Ross while it lasted being Frond End Supervisor was nice! It was not nice getting terminated just like that for a mistake. Now I received a letter talking about $500 dollars of restitution from a Law Firm representing Ross Dress For Less. Is sad that I don’t have a job for a mistake I commited NOT theft or fraud like they state on the Document I am basically being accused of stealing something I have never down. Human Resources have been no help and until today I still haven't received a copied of the documents I sign on Friday 9th. Sent from my iPhone

shame on you ross !

AUTHOR: Zadeh Mellie - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, November 18, 2014

I went into the Ross dress for less in santa ana location to buy a shirt. and was told I can not try the shirt on? because it has an alarm tag. I have a wedding tomorrow and I am leaving tonight on airplane. So I need to get the right size. she said " bring it back and exchange it " - I cant i said. I am leaving tonight. I was direct to the manager name Pam. Pam tells me that company policy is that if it has an alarm on it, you cant try it on. hmmmm...
So Ross wants me to...
1.  buy a shirt without knowing if it fits
2.  come back and return it

Rather than let someone try a shirt on? this is poor customer service and Ross should seriously rethink this NON CUSTOMER friendly strategy that was obviously put in place so they can save time.

Shame on you Ross !

So i now called Ross customer service to express my dis satisfaction. I am currently waiting on hold for 4 and 1/2 hours total. I called in 5 different times on various phones to see if anyone ever really picks up. I have called in the customer service lines for Ross dress for less 25 times and have never reached anyone. this is completely ridiculous and they should just shut their doors if they are shutting down customer service.

Shame on you Ross!

Not All Ross's Are the Same

I'm very sorry for the mistreatment you all are receiving. Though I must say, not all Ross's are managed in this way. I work at a Ross in Henderson, Nevada. It does have it's pro's and con's but not to the extremes that has been reported here. Such con's are not getting enough hours and having to deal with extremely rude customers, but our store manager does not like to give write ups let alone fire anybody. It sounds to me that the district & zone our store falls under seems to be a bit more lenient than yours. Or maybe different management makes that much of a difference.

Just as an example of leniency: We had an employee reported because he was letting his girlfriend use his discount, when of course it is against policy, and even though it was reported and on camera he was not given any disciplinary action at all. As for meals and breaks, it is required at our store that all associates take their breaks two hours after their start time. If they work 5.5 hours or more they must receive a lunch by their fourth hour. If they work an 8 hour shift they must receive an additional break after their sixth hour of working. We have a daily planner that all associates must sign off on to show they took their breaks.

It sounds like there are some very poor management in a lot of other Ross's. Our store manager was a  store manager at Victoria's Secret, then Walmart, before being hired into Ross as the top paid store manager in the district, and I must say she is great at her job. Our assistant store manager was an assistant store manager at Babies R Us before making the transfer, and always ensures our processes are always maintained. I've always been slightly intimidated by our district manager which is silly because he hands out gift cards to associates to show his appreciation and will try to strike up friendly conversation during his visits.

As for pay, we all start at minimum on the sales floor. I started at 7.25 and worked myself up to 10.15. I know its not much but I am able to pay bills with it. Ross also has some nice programs. Such as scholorships for the children of associates, true genius which encourages employees to submit their ideas to change the company, associate assistance program, and the alert line to (anonymously or not) report theft/concerns/ill treatment. These are just a few that are always encouraged to be utilized.

I hope this was helpful. I understand you will most likely still hold animosity towards your stores/management and the poor treatment you have received or witnessed. I just want it to be known there are still some well managed stores out there if you are lucky enough to get the right one.

Ross is without care for it's employees

AUTHOR: Patty - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 06, 2006

I have worked at Ross for 4 1/2 years. Over that time I have seen numerous occasions in which Ross Corperate has made this painfully clear. I have played bystander as Loss-Prevention ruthlessly terminated good, hard working associates. In one situation, a 6 year employee found a credit voucher outside worth a total of 4 dollars. She was on break, and talking with the store manager at the time. The manager joked at the associates luck in finding the voucher. When the associate used the voucher, in conjunction with her 20% employee discount, the computer system red-flagged her. Despite our manager's pleas to L.P. that he himself would have spent the voucher had he found it, and that no intentional foul play was afoot, the associate was fired. She is a single mom with a family. No remorse was granted on her behalf. This is only 1 of dozens...
