I am glad I didn't respond to their mailing showing "average annual savings of $ 348," but went to Rip-off Report instead! After reading reports others wrote about how Allstate would quote one rate then the actual rate would be higher when they got it in the mail, I decided to use Allstate's mailing as fodder for my fireplace, instead! They didn't get me, plus I saved $$$ by not dealing with them. I'm sure I would feel like the person who wrote that they "were not in good hands with Allstate!"
Their "roadside assistance" plan requires you to "pay Allstate a pre-set fee via secure credit card transaction," meaning (translated into plain English) that, if I am stranded out on the highway with a broken-down vehicle, I have to have the "pre-set fee" amount (not specified, so I don't know how much it is) as an available amount in my credit card account, or in my bank account if using a debit card, in order to get a wrecker out! I've dealt with two other "roadside assistance" plans in the past, and they both are prepaid plans, meaning that I can call them any time, day or night, and they will send out a wrecker, regardless of how much money I have in my bank or credit card account (which is usually ZERO)! All I do is sign the ticket, showing that I received the service. If I can't stay with the car, due to extreme weather (hot or cold), physical limitations, or other time obligations, the driver will even sign the ticket for me! I've had this done one day when we had extremely hot temps!
The mail-out says it is a "pay as you go plan." Isn't everything? What about their insurance? I imagine you pay plenty as you go, or you don't get any more insurance! Come on, Allstate, get real! We're not that stupid! Whoever writes your advertising copy, needs to quit smoking whatever they're smoking, and get into the real world!
Thank you, Rip-off Report! From now on, with any solicitations I may be considering, I check with your files first. Most of the time, "if it is too good to be true, it usually is!" You are doing a very good job, plus your reports are all in one place, easily searched. With Better Business Bureaus, Attorneys General, and other consumer "watchdog" groups, I have to hunt all over the country, state by state, city by city, and it takes HOURS to do this. With Rip-off Report, I do one simple search, it usually gives me alternate names and addresses used by "con artists" and "scam artists," and it even shows me other reports sent in by victims all over! Great job!

Advertising is Accurate

The advertisement states that people who switch to Allstate save an average of $348 per year. Obviously, there are a lot of people who get quotes that are higher and don't switch, thus their quotes are not figured into the average annual savings of people who switch. The mailing never guarantees that everyone who gets a quote will save $348. Ando of those who do save, $348 is the average--some will save more and some will save less.
Regarding Good Hands Roadside, it is exactly as described--a pay-as-you-go service. If you don't want to join a motor club where you pay regardless of whether or not you use it, you can sign up for this free plan and pay a reduced rate for services only when you need them. You do not have to be an Allstate customer to use this service. Allstate also provides the Allstate Motor Club, a more traditional roadside assistance service, and if you have an Allstate policy, you can have road service added to the policy.

What is the actual ripoff here?

The actual ripoff here is the fact that they are TRYING to get my $$$ by sending me misleading materials IN THE U.S. MAIL! Just because I didn't fall for their little scheme, doesn't mean that I wasn't ripped off! My time was stolen from me, for one thing, as I could have used it to do something constructive, instead of reading their "garbage" and writing a report to let others know that they should use Rip-Off Report to check out a Company before doing business with them. This is more than many other agencies offer. SOME Better Business Bureaus offer this, but NOT ALL. SOME Attorney General websites and offices offer this, but NOT ALL. How can consumers protect themselves from being ripped off? By reading Rip-Off Report.com before they let their credit card number be passed around! And before they do any ordering! After all, the person who asked this question, is probably a "lackey" of these criminal-minded companies, as they HAVE BEEN KNOWN to get people to go on Rip-Off Report and write controversial reports, in an attempt to confuse the feeble-minded! Don't let them get away with this, either! They're trying to "muddy up the waters" and make it look like those of us who write genuine Rip-Off Reports, are the imbeciles! Get smart, folks, these Companies have lots of tricks up their sleeves!

So, what is the actual "rip off" here?

I don't see a rip off here.
All insurance premium rates are based on underwriting.
That $348 "average savings" is just that. An average.
And, all major insurers use this same advertising.
As far as the Allstate Motor Club.
You are wrong. Doesn't work that way.
I have had it for years and it is absolutely the best service out there.
They do require billing of the premiums either quarterly, semi-annually or annually, or if you do not have a credit card, they will allow you to send a check or money order for the annual amount.
And, there are different levels of plans on the roadside assistance.
Don't be so cheap. Go platinum.
It appears that you have just found rip off report and are posting jibberish in several categories, although no actual rip off.
No rip off here.
