Angies List rip-off! Deception, scam artists! Clevleand Ohio

Sounds like angies list is just like the BBB but with a twist. I picked a name from there tile contractors list. All reports were good. He came out to put some tile in my bathroom bathtub on the walls plus the ceiling. When done he came out and said that tile kept dropping from the ceiling and made 5 chips in my new americast tub. He never covered up the tub for protection.

He said that he could either replace the tub on his insurance but that will cost me. Or he can lay the floor for free. Which he only did half of it. He recommended Ohio porcolien to fill in the chips. I did this and when Ohio porcolien came in he found five more tiny chips. I called to let the tile guy know this He bit my head off. He also layed new plastic on my hardwood floors so he wouldnt track up the floor with dust and when he took the plastic up that took up the finsish and had to have the floor redone again.

There have been numerous times angies list failed me. He wormed his way out of my repairs. I should have taken him to small claims court. But had structual issues to contend with before my garage caved in and the roofer who put the roof on wrong and went after his bond and insurance. The only thing angies list did for was to make a report.

I found out later though a plumber that angies list claims they dont take money from the company that the company gets put on in good faith by homeowner that call them in. The plumber states that angies list sends him flyers to join as a member 3-4 times a months. The fee for him is 1,800 a year. He said it is just a big advertising scam and most shoddy builders are on this list.

I also thought about the fact that when people call in to make a report you have to be a memeber wouldnt the contractor or business have freinds and family call to make a fake reports?? They dont check to make sure the contractor is bonded, liscened, insured, permitted, or even have errors and omisssions bonds, High risk retention bonds, and ect. They dont even check to see if there is any complaints about them through the General attorney's offices. But i have another feeling that is another scam in its self.
