I wanted a used CD player for my car so I stopped at this Car Audio store called "BOWW DOWN" audio in Costa Mesa off of Harbor Blvd and Victoria Street.....
I get there and ask to see a AM/FM CD player from a stack of used car stereos... I ask him how much for that Sony deck?" and he says $80.00 and I told him that I did not have that much money so I started to leave and he goes "Well, Have much do you have?" and I said $40.00 then he goes "Do you have $50.00" and I thought what is $10.00 more?

I gave him $50.00 for this Aiwa AM/FM CD stereo and with a screwdriver I take apart my dash and remove my stock stereo (I have experience with installation of car stereos from prior purchases) I wire the stereo up and turn the key on and "nothing lights up" on the Aiwa unit...I went back up to him and it was like he never seen me in his life..He says "give me a min" as he was spinning another customers stereo control knob..I walk back up in the store and he meets me in there and I tell him that the stereo has no life in it..He says try another one..Try the Audio Acoustics (NOT WORTH $50.00 NEW!!) CD stereo so I tried it and same problem...JUNK!! I ask him for my money back? He said nope..So I said why not? He said "read the fine print on receipt" This was like 15-20 min after I bought the stereo and now "NO REFUND" Thank God I did not drive off and return later with a complaint because most likely he would of said something like I broke or blown out the all ready broken junk used stereo...He offered me store credit for $50.00 and I said "I can't have my money back"? Take in mind that he had no other used car stereo that was $50.00..The others were $60.00 and $80.00..

I ended up with these 6.5" Rockwood USA speakers (Brand New) for the $50.00 store credit because I felt that after I left and came back at a later date that my store credit would not be honered.. These 6.5" speakers are not worth $50.00.. Try $30.00 brand new, at the most.. Be careful with this place.. you may end up with a written on original receipt of "store credit" instead of a cash refund after your money changes hands

I asked if they worked and he said to use my car to check them out...he did not know if the used stereos worked or not..In my opinion, he was looking for a quick sale and the more money he could have got for that junk stereo the better he felt..I was upset because he did not give me a refund after testing 3 stereos that all did not work..He could have at least gave me my money back but instead tried to get me to buy a brand new one at a much higher price after only 30 min at his store..Store credit is all he offered and I ended up with some rear speakers that were not worth the $50.00 (more like $25.00, at the most) A bunch of jive and quick talk is not the way to bring back a honest customer!

That's a mistake every time!

Dude, you're old enough to know better than that.

It's a stereo store for Christ sake. They got speakers right there. I'd be no trouble to hook it up right there in the store, before you bought it. That way, you could hear it and verify the disk player worked.

Here's the rule for anyone considering something used.

Try it and see if all the functions work. If they can't, or won't, let you do that, then pay the non-working price?

What's a non-working used cd auto player worth? A buck, maybe two, tops!

If you want the working price, then show me that it works. Otherwise, I'll only pay the non-working price. Common sense!

This goes for everything, from auto stereos to xylophones.
