We were so pleased to have our long distance phone service with Working Assets (the predecesor of Credo) because of their focus on progressive causes.  We would pay extra to "round up" our bill to send a little extra to progressive charities, and pay to send out their petition letters to congress, etc...   What a socially-conscious company!!!  Wow!! How I wish we had not been enticed to try their cellular service, Credo Mobile.  I had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

When we agreed to try Credo's cellular service, CredoMobile, they asked how many minutes we anticipated using, and assured us not to worry -- that if we ever went over our minutes, they would simply "retroactively" switch us to an "unlimited minutes" plan, and we would simply pay the difference of the two plans (maybe $20 - $30).  Right.  Until the first bill I got for $800.00 as opposed to our usual $140 or so per month.  I was horrified.  I called and said I can't pay $800. for one month's cell phone service AND you promised to switch us retroactively to an unlimited minutes plan if this ever happened.  Then I got the "corporate runaround" -- "Oh sir, you would have had to have called us before your next bill printed -- there's nothing we can do now." (They never told me about "time limits" when they inticed me to sign up for their cellular service).

Out of the "goodness of their hearts" they credited around $200.00, and I paid the remainder of the $800. bill, and asked that, if they were going to be that deceptive, to please cancel my service.  Now, two months later, I get a "pre-collection" letter from CredoMobile demanding another $220.76.  Again, on the phone, I get the "corporate runaround" like:  "By the time you had cancelled, your next bill had already printed, so you actually owed us for yet another month."  Another supervisor tells me:  "You don't owe us for service after you cancelled.  The $220.76 is a early termination fee."  I feel like they've already gotten enough blood out of me, but I'll pay it to be done with them.

We now have pre-paid cellular with a conservative company, so this will never happen again.  I'm heartbroken to see that even the most "progressive" company now conducts business like any other corporate monster.  When I told them that, the supervisors response was:  "I'm sorry you feel that way, sir, but we do have to, first and foremost, operate our company."  Isn't that what the rest of the greedy corporate monsters all say, too???
