I received a parking ticket at DFW parking ramp on Wed. 7-31-02 at Concourse "B" gate B-16 at about 1:30 pm, I had been parked for about 15 min. and the ticket is for $28.00. I had followed a long string of cars all through every level of the parking ramp and none of these cars could find a parking spot, we were all desperate obviously we all had flight schedules to meet.
In desperation, myself along with many others wound up on the very top level of the parking area which was found to have no available spaces due to a roping off of most of the area for no apparent reason. Cars were parallel parking along side the ropes which had no affect on the flow of traffic and was not blocking anybody and all of us were in the same desperate situation.
The size of DFW and all the expansion that is taking place there one would think that parking would be a top priority but evidently I'm the only one that feels that way. I am very disappointed in this airport and it's lack of concern for the people who use it.
To DFW Aiport: Your poor planning has cost me an unnecessary $28 added to the already inflated cost of flying. Penalize the airline user for your poor planning. signed DISGUSTED.

Must be a Texas thing..

I'm not trying to defend what happened but....
It just reminded me of my brother a few months back. I can't remember if this was in Austin or Houston, but he had paralell parked behind a large truck, and wanted to make sure the passneger door had room to open without hitting the curb. He was in a Mazda Miata, which is a pretty small car. When he got back he had a ticket for parking more than 18 inches from the curb. The stupid part was that the truck in front of him, which was withen the 18 inches, was sticking farther out into the road then my brother just due to the width of the truck.

Well Jennifer all I can say to you is "THEN DON'T FLY !!!!" I am sure the AIRLINES as well as the GOVT AIRPORTS wont miss your 1 flight once a blue moon. I see how you like to complain about everything that hassles you, but if some TERRORIST was to explode a CAR BOMB or such at a Airport, I am sure you would be saying "Well, why didnt the GOVT do more to protect us & such". Yeah it is a HASSLE but you had better get used to it. Things have changed & people need to start accepting them.........

NOT FAIR

If the airport is made to close the parking area by whomever or for whatever reason, the AIRPORT needs to make other accommidations for the CUSTOMER.
This airport is one of many and it's competitors are readily available for the unsatisfied customers. If the airport were to operate with the mentality that it needs to satisfy it's customers, we might see a dramatic increase of happy customers at the airport.
The luxury of flying has become too much of a hassle.

Nothing annoys me more than people who think they can just "make their own" parking spaces. It is refreshing to know that this one didn't get away with it. Consider the $28.00 your daily parking fee, it's pretty cheap if you think about it.

Not the Airports Fault

The reason those spaces were roped off was due to FAA rules that came out after 9/11 prohibiting parking within a certain distance from the terminal. This has caused a MAJOR Problem for a lot of airports.
They did plan years ago to have enough parking. But now a lot of it has been lost. Also there are other parking alternatives at DFW such as Shuttle Parking, Infield lots and others.
Just because you showed up late, and did not allow enough time & was arrogant about ILLEGALY PARKING isnt the Airports fault. You should be glad that it is only going to cost you $28.00, they should have TOWED your vehicle & charged you several hundred dollars in TOWING & STORAGE fees.
Follow the rules & quit thinking that just because everyone else does it or it doesnt appear to hurt anyone it is ok. CAUSE IT ISNT !!!!!
