I went to my bank and found out that an unauthorized $149.00 was withdrawn and had a check number that wasn't familiar to me. The Bank mngr called to find out what it was. It gave the name Florida-Passport. The Bank Mngr and I called the Company and they couldn't find my name. We were on speakerphone so that there could be record. We got disconnected and when we went back thru the system the only way I could find myself was by putting in my acct #. We figured that is one way they are getting people's acct info.

The CSR at Florida Passport had apologized and said they would CREDIT the money BACK into my account, since it looked like an error from not being able to find my name and then when I gave her a phone number it came up under an incorrect spelling. She then wanted to speak to the Bank Mngr.

The CSR spoke to the Bank MGr (didn't know I was hearing the conversation) and told the Bank Mngr that this was a "free service" for a certain amount of days. The Bank Mngr asked "Why if it was free why did you take out the money?" Also asked "How can you charge someone who has just received the info." It didn't matter if I had talked to someone at this point because money was unauthorized and never needed to be taken out. The lady gave us a confirmation number (N03FP0A4) and said it would take 3-5 business days to put the money back (credit) in the account and I would be reimbursed for any fines, charges, or fees I've incurred thru this. She said to fax these fees to (727)471-0270. We thought this would be the end.

I check a week later and find not only did they not put the money back that I was still incurring charges. I'm on disability and when one thing goes wrong its a big time mess. The bank mngr had tried to call the company again(1-800-432-06350. Unfornuately it was right after 5:pm and the bank's office people went home, so we were going to continue this on Monday.

I got a check on Saturday for $149 with a nice little saying "By cashing this check, the payee agrees that the drawer has made payment in full of the debt drawer owed payee as a result of a contract between the parties, made on 2/15/2005".

I didn't have a contract. I called the company and I got rude people. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I got hung up on. then I decided to call the FL BBB(727-535-5522 and found out that they had 18 complaints (16 Closed-Assumed-- 1 Explained) There records go back 36 months and I was on a automated system, so Monday I will check to see what the actual time frame is.
The address showed up as a a business center. They did have a UPS Store with that address and a few other business. The toll free operator made comment that the address could be their. I will also check that out.

On Sunday I called the (888)612-2894 and got a male CSR called Kendall who was very rude. I told him I received a check and the funds were to be credited back to the account and I can't cash this. He said I cancelled the contract and I told him my circumstances. He said it didn't matter when I received the info because I had agreed that if I didn't call the number by a certain date then they would take the money out. I tried to explain that I just received the info a couple days before money was taken out w/out unauthorization. From what I remember I was told that I had a certain amount of time to review the info. He didn't care and said it didnt matter who I talked with (because I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said he worked their for 30 years and he'd be able to answer better than anyone) He said he would take my name and turn it over to one on Monday. He said it didn't matter if I went to the Supervisor, the BBB, or sued them...the company will not pay any fees that were incurred from this unauthorized withdrawal. I asked for a copy of the tape and he said no they don't do that either.

I was angry because I kept asking the question. How can you take out money on something that the consumer didn't get a chance to even look at. The info was coming from Fl to AZ. I did finally look over the info and the info says "14" days. I told him how a financial burden this has been and he didn't care.

This is a Big Time Scan and I was given incorrect information.
The packet of info says one thing and the Florida-Passport CSR says another.

I Googled the name "Florida Passport" and found ""Bill Brown's Travel and "Bill Brown's Plaza Travel" info are the same. I Googled his name. Very interesting information.

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!
