I submitted my resume to Red Carpet Technologies, AKA New Horizon's Computer Learning Center, on Monster.com.

What these people are doing is highly unethical since they are posting job positions, which don't exist, and using it as a recruiting tool!

Fortunately when I talked to the recruiter it sounded strange so before going to the "interview" I did a search for "New Horizon's computer learning center scam" and found other information about them on this website.

So apparently they not only aren't very good at teaching anything they use lies and deception to try to get recruits for their crappy school. I guess they figure if you are too stupid to figure out what they are up to you are an easy target!

Thanks so much to everyone who wrote about Hew Horizons CLC which saved me from wasting half my day to go to a phony job interview!

Rebuttal (7 years late)

AUTHOR: Dan Vohs - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 24, 2016

I recently had a student ask me about this report, so I wanted to respond (better late than never).  We are not affiliated with Red Carpet Technologies.  Our placement staff is employed full time by New Horizons.  Our staff has many years of placement experience and is doing a fantastic job placeing our students in IT Careers.  We have plenty of references if anyone needs them.  Contact New Horizons and ask for the director if you have any questions.

Thank you

Report New Horizons to the Commission for Independent Education!

AUTHOR: Alfred - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 21, 2009

All Consumers who recently felt ripped off by New Horizons within Florida should just contact the Commission for Independent Education. This is the oversight board that has the power to reprimand these schools. You can google for the contact information of the CIE. I hope it works out. BEWARE of the BAIT and SWITCH that all New Horizons Computer Learning Centers practice. They are truly a joke of a school.

Jacksonville Office a Scam

AUTHOR: Zuzu4wd - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 23, 2009

My husband and I put in our own complaint on 6/22 (See the post) against this company. What a terribly run company; what terrible customer service skills the owner, Dan has! My husband went to them in hopes to better himself. He has a B.S. degree in IT, has field experience & knowledge to go places. He just felt it was best to add to his knowledge & New Horizons at the time seemed the right place to be. What a mistake that was!

Anyway! It's interesting to see their ploy; I'm sure they aren't the first to do such a thing... Recruit through job postings. They aren't talented enough in my opinion to come up with a scheme like that on their own; now being copy cats, sure!

With all that said... Stay away, they are indeed a scam. The owner of the Jacksonville office doesn't even have any experience as a tech. I can't believe that the main office in CA would hand over their company name to an individual who has no tech experience whatsoever, but it seems they have!

My husband & I are making it a point to go out of our way to run this particular office into the ground. Wish me luck! If you'd like to help, get with me! Email me at

I'm all for picketting this center!

I looked again they still aren't there

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 22, 2009

There is NO listing of New Horizons as a Cisco authorized training partner. They do not have Cisco certified instructors and do not provide training on the most current hardware and/or software. Someone I know that goes there says they are still training on 1700 routers which are now end of life/end of sale and have been for a while.

CISCO Certified Learning Partner

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 06, 2009

It turns out that they are if fact a certified cisco learning partner and you can access their classes through the CISCO website, so the information that they are not is false. Many of these companies are built as boot camps, and from a teaching perspective New Horizons has built a solid reputation. All you need to do to find a reputable training center is look on CISCO's web site. If you are looing for other certs go to the respective web site (ie Microsoft.com, CompTIA.com, etc)

#2 Consumer Suggestion

I dealt with this last year

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 22, 2008

I saw an ad on Monster as well as Careerbuilder.com for this company. I could not find any IT companies listed with this name.

About 1 week later I got a call from someone from New Horizons asking me to come in to discuss training. Told him I wasn't interested I had my Cisco cert and was looking for another job. A little bit after that I got a call from a cell phone asking me to come interview for a job. All they gave was an address and a suite number. Guess who it was?? New Horizons training center. I figured what the heck and went in. Wow they do job placement to. If I was to enroll as a student they would set me up with interviews with major companies that they provide training to.

The thing is that the companies don't hire thru them they just send employees for training there on software programs. I know because I worked at a company they had listed. Whenever the company I worked at was hiring they never went to these people or even informed them of openings.

Just a word of caution. If you do decide to take a training class make sure they are certified by that company (Microsoft and Cisco to name a couple). They are not a recognized Cisco training company and do not offer training on the most current equipment or software (as far as Cisco goes).

Most Trade Schools Like This One are PROBABLY Scams

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 22, 2008

I had to use the PROBABLY word as a disclaimer because there must be SOMEBODY who attends these schools and actually finishes and makes a success...

I don't know anybody but the law of probability indicates that some exist.

It was my experience that certain vocational schools ( especially the trucking school that my cousin attended) exist ONLY to sop up the federally funded STUDENT LOANS, the educational benefits from the GI Bill and Welfare to Work training allowance, etc.

ONLY TO FIND THAT THE JOB YOU TRAINED FOR DOES NOT EXIST AND THE TIME YOU SPEND THERE WAS UNACCREDITED BY THE REPUTABLE PLACES THAT ACCREDIT THE COURSEWORK AT MOST COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES!

SO GUESS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AND TO YOUR EDUCATIONAL ALLOWANCE....

AND NOW YOU HAVE A LOAN TO PAY IF YOU TOOK A LOAN AND NO JOB!

RIP OFF!
