Plain and simple for all you Truck Drivers looking into this company!  Don't!

You will pay three times as much for the equipment.

You WILL have to run illegal if you want to make any money.

The dispatchers or Fleet managers will feel you out as to weather you will run illegal or not.  You know how that goes.

They push for teams, so if you are experienced, you will probably get some bull, like "You will have to run with a trainer for a few months" Anyway.

The trainers are inexperienced themselves, Not all, but most.

And God help you if you turn your truck in early!  I turned my truck in clean and with no damage and still got a bill for over $4,000.  I was not even "in the hole" at the time which was a miracle in itself.

Company drivers are treated like crap.  I was company before going lease and went lease to get away from the worst Fleet Manager I have ever seen.

Either Trucking has really gone down hill or this is accepted practice today, either way, I will never step foot into another truck at Prime Inc.

I started driving truck at june 2000. My first job was driving for ROCOR. I did run some of those loads illegal and I did "jail time" on scale 2times in 2001, but was my choice. Now I am company driver for last 2 years and I enjoy working for this company. Let me give to you all "new" to trucking some advice. When you get load assignment, make shure that you can pick up the load and deliver on time before you say "YES". That means to calculate the distance and time require to drive. The milage for that trip on quallcom are NOT the actual milages. Even if your truck run 70mph you will still nedd to calculate driving time as 55mph. You need to take in consideration a road condition and terrain. Shorted road is not allways the best way to go. 50 more mile of interstate is better that driving trough small towns. That add driving time and wearing on truck(more burn fuel as stop and go).As company driver, I have the "fuel route". but I DO NOT have to stick to it. It is recomended fuel route.  I was never penalize for "out of route" miles. I was advise to take the best route. If a fuel stop is not on my route, I ask for another fuel stop and never had problem with. If the fuel route said that it is 1000 mil then actual milage can be 1100. That extra 100 miles will add your driving time(2 hours). I have road atlas, laptop with co-pilot and pcmiller. I look at how many actual miles are and time to require to shipper and receiver. Add time for fuel, dot breaks. Add at least a hour for unexpected slow downs. My truck is set for 56mph. I never had late load and my average pay deposit is $750-950 and do not not run illegal. I was never forced to run team( I run solo). I do not understand of why so many people "bitchin" here. Most of those are "new" drivers who do not understan the trucking. Prime, as any other company, it is a bussiness. They are not charity organization. When the company makes money, you make money and have a job. You have to take care of equpment even as company driver. To make money the wheels have to roll. At shipper or receiver I am allways pleasent to them and allways say "take your time". That statement will get you out of dock faster that "pushing". Plan your trip, communicate with dispatch and you will be OK. If something goes wrong- look what you are doing wrong.

Happy trucking.
