SPIRIT AIRLINES Absolute RIP-OFF--Hidden or Untold Fees--Poor Customer Service--NEVER Again Miramar, Florida

Why did we use SPIRIT AIRLINES? We will NEVER fly with them again. The promise of cheap fares was enticing. We found out too late there were many extra fees! Only 40 pounds in checked baggage vs 50 pounds for real airlines. $28 fee for a 40 pound bag. Another $25 if the bag is over 40 pounds. Only ONE carry-on the size of a backpack, purse, or small briefcase. Second carry-on is $45. No complimentary soda (pop) or water. A soda or water is $3. If you want a specific seat there is another charge depending on how close to the front of the cabin. If you take what they assign you in cattle class the seats are so close together your knees are in the back of the seat in front of you. We traveled from Portland to DFW with a connection in Las Vegas. Our return was also through Las Vegas but SPIRIT insisted we were flying on two separate non-stop flights requiring us to pay two baggage fees, retrieve our bag in Las Vegas, check it in again, and go through security again. Telephone customer service was virtually non-existent, provided by outsourcing to a group in India. We could have flown with a major carrier for only about $20 more after all of the fees. We will fly a REAL airline next time. Don't be fooled by their "low" fares.
