1 And Only Locksmith Inc., Ami, Tom & John Non-disclosure of Charges for Work be Done, Unprofessional Attendee, Credit Card Charge Without Backup Flushing (Job was done in Portland, Oregon) New York

I Found advertisement for this company on the internet and contacted them to change the lock on a home that I had rented out to tenants in Portland, OR.  I reside in Arlington, TX and based upon notification from the utility company in Portland, it appeared that my tenants had vacated the property without leaving me access. 

I completed the required paperwork to have this company perform the service. I asked them for a quote and they said that once the locksmith arrived on site, they would give a written quote to my contact person who was meeting them there. At that point my contact person would be able to call me with the cost and I would agree or disagree. 

The appointment was for 6:00 PM, my contact person arrived early and waited for 1 And Only Locksmith to arrive.  The man arrived, late, and began to change the first lock.  He never gave my contact person a quote for the job so that I could agree or disagree. 

My tenants came and I called the police to check out the situation.  The police said that, even though the tenant had tried to vacate, I had to give her a written, 30 day notice to vacate, according to state law.  At this point, the police had my contact person and the locksmith leave the premises. The locksmith job was not completed. He left 1 key for the lock that he had changed,.

I called the locksmith company that same night and asked about the cost and they told me that the cost was $579 and I didn't have that much in my account, so they ran my card for $300.   I informed them that the job was not completed and, as well, I had not been given the promised estimated quote.  The only charge that had been assured me was a $19 service call charge.  You can see that on the internet.  Ami, who said he was the manager, said that the locksmith had given a written quote and that my contact person had signed it.

This was not true! I had already spoken to my contact who said that she had not been given anything.  She also indicated that the on site locksmith appeared to be inibriated.

I asked Ami to send me a copy of the signed quote. He said he would, but of course it never came.    They wanted to know how they were going to get the rest of their money!

They began shouting and raving over the phone about how they wanted their money and that they had done the complete job.  They still didn't understand when we explained that the police had asked the locksmith to leave the premises prior to the job being completed.  My contact said that when she and the locksmith were asked to leave, he had another good 2 hours of work to do if he were to complete the job. But te police asked him to leave.

These people appear to be complete rip offs.  I have asked for my $300 to be returned to me as they are just a sham. The locksmith left 1 key, as verified by my tenant, but in the latest communication from this company, they are saying that they made 8 keys. Why would we need 8 keys?  Another untruth!  There were red flags along the way, such as their continuing to call to go over the same information multiple times.  I thought, that since it was a Friday evening, they just had a lot of business.

I pray that no one else will undertake to do business with these rip off artists!  

If a class action suit is ever initiated against this company, please ensure that I am a part of it.
