Brian Gokey Painting is a ripoff. He has taken many deposits from his customers and not intending to do the work. But most important of all he is bankrupt. His bankruptcy was in Poughkeepsie court his attorney is Michael Pinsky from Goshen New York. He is not supposed to be operating his business since December 2004 when his bankruptcy was discharged. He was fined over $7000 by OSHA last summer and told an OSHA representive in February he was no longer in business and they dropped the fines.He lied again he was still operating his business.

He does not pay his employees. I myself am owed $8500 in back pay my brother is owed $7500 and other ex-employees as follows Mike $3500 Grimm $1500 Emmett $5500 Cory $1800 Tom $900 and countless others. As you see he is beyond words I should type here.

I have him on tape admitting the amounts owed to us taped in his office. He has other crews now as of September 9 2005 working for him. I spoke with one of them Thursday and he told me Brian K Gokey was trying to cheat him out of money too. Roughly about 3 months ago he wanted us to hire 20 painters "we replied you can't even pay us and you want us to hire more guys" he replied" tell them we get paid every two weeks and when the job is done don't pay them, then start another job and do it again".

He then offered to sell us his business for $100 because money has to change hands and he said he has taken like $100,000 in deposits. We backed out of the idea for several reasons. 1.We will have to probably have to assume his debt. 2.He told us hes owes the state or gov't don't remember $130,000 in back taxes from 2003 alone. 3.WE knew we would probably get screwed in some way due to his drug problem which makes him make irrational decisions. I have personally witnessed him consume 20-25 vicodin and oxycontins a day. Last summer I witnessed him taking them with beer and we joking said to him they're not tic-tacs.

You are probably asking yourself how did the amounts owed to us got so high. Well here you go I'll answer your questions. When we started getting behind in pay he dangled out certain things like a carrot.For instance the business, he told us he would give us his business because he didn't want it anymore or the stress that comes with owning it.

We were his foremans (my brother Shane, Mike, and me). We seen tax returns we know what the business was worth and what is was capable of with his greedy hands out of the picture. One time last year like 2 days before Thanksgiving we finished this job in New Paltz. He went and picked up the final check and never paid us and then he went on vacation to Florida.

When he returned from his vacation he bragged to us that he spent $15,000 while down there. He also told us he bought his friend a new stainless gas grill. And bought a new digital camera meanwhile we had not a dollar in our pockets for food on Thanksgiving. Mike got pissed before he left and flipped out saying what am I supposed to do return bottles to pay for my families Thanksgiving dinner. Shane took him outside out of the office before he really lost control. I had a turkey in my freezer so I gave it to MIke so his girlfriend, 2 teenage daughters,and a 3 year old could eat. Meanwhile we all had families to feed I have a 5 year old.Then when Christmas came he did it again. I had not a dollar in my pocket again to buy my 5 year old presents.

We were owed so much money we didn't want to walk away. Our mistake. Because it just kept continuing.Lie after lie. Deposit after deposit. He would take another deposit to give us a little money.

The people I am really sorry for are the ones he has taken deposits from. And believe me there is a lot of them. Plus he had prospects of larger jobs (commercial jobs)to pay us our back pay but he screwed up the jobs by calling them up and begging for a deposit. Or sleeping through the deadlines of getting the estimate out on time, because of his alleged drug habit.He is the scum of the earth. He would cheat his own mother and he did.He is also a member of the Better Business Bureau imagine that.
