I am on a fixed income of only $726.00 a month at times I fall short towards the end of the month. I have not had credit and was having trouble finding it, this company offered it and I foolishly sent needed money trying to recieve it. If the people can be found and punished I am willing to assist in any effort. This is not the way I like to see the internet work. I have been working with the Net since 1995 and it has all got out of hand. Please feel free to send more mail to me with any more I can do to help resolve this act of inconsiderate easy way for lazy people to acquire money. Since you know about the fraud do you also know of a company I can trust to help me establish the needed credit? I just found this out today and am very upset. Thank You for keeping up with this kind information for the public. Jason Bicknell, Indiana

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Get a secured credit card

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

POSTED: Friday, April 19, 2002

Your best bet for establishing or rebuilding a credit record is to get a secured credit card. With this type of card, you put up money to guarantee that you'll make your payments. Your credit limit is determined by how much you put up; if you deposit $500, your credit limit will be $500, and so forth.

As you use your card and make on-time payments, you'll be building a credit record. The card issuer will send reports to the major credit bureaus, and eventually you'll qualify for an "unsecured" card.

A credit union is probably the best place to get a secured card; check out www.creditunionsonline.org (or maybe .com) to find one in your area.

Incidentally, the funds you use as security will continue to earn interest even while they're acting as collateral.

And never pay a fee to receive a credit card; this is usually a tip-off that's someone's got a scam going on.
