Three years ago we had to take out loans on our mortage free property after losing a business contract to pay off creditors. Countrywide homeloans was one place we went to. (The other Champion Mortage - another story) A year into the mortage they sent us a letter stating we could get a better deal with our homeowners insurance policy through them and wrap it up in our payments. We went for it and dropped our personal policy (can not have 2 policys).

On June 5th 2003 at 2am our house burnt down completely.
There is nothing left. We called countrywide homeloans and told them what happened. Countrywide told us that we were only covered for the amount of the mortage (which was around $62,000)and not for the house or contents. We were being charged $74.00 a month for this insurance. We were also told that no more payments were required from us because the insurance was taking over.

It is now Dec 29th 2003 and they are still charging us mortage payments and insurance payments. We are not the only ones that believed what they said in that letter. We were told by the inspector that came that he saw other people who were left homeless sitting on door steps with no place to go. These Mortage Companies are defrauding people and getting away with it. I would like to get a class action suit going.

DEAR COUNTRYWIDE,

ABOUT A YEAR AGO I LOST MY JOB ACTUALLY ON JANUARY 16, 2003. I CALLED COUNTRYWIDE TO INFORM THEM OF WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY ASSURED ME THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP US. WELL ALMOST 6 MONTHS LATER WE WERE IN FORECLOSURE.

WE FOUND OUT ANNA MORENO WAS GIVING US THE RUN AROUND. AND MULTIPLE PAPERS WERE FAXED BUR FOR SOME REASON OR THE OTHER SHE NEVER RECEIVE THEM.

I GOT FED UP I GET A HOLD OF HER SUPERVISOR AND SHE LOOKS INTO IT AND ACTUALLY HAS SOMEONE WORK THE WEEKEND FOR US TO TRY TO HELP. BUT THE HELP WE GET IS FROM A CHEIRI BLANCHFORD WHICH IN TURN ROSE OUR PAYMENTS HIGHER THEN BEFORE.

AND THEN BEFORE I KNEW IT WE QUALIFIED FOR REFINANCE IN WHICH I EXPLAINED TO HER REGARDING MY DIVORCE AND HOW THE HOME WAS GIVEN TO ME BY THE JUDGE IN MY DIVORCE CASE SHE STATED THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM.

WELL IT IS NOW FEBRUARY A 2004 AND THE PAPER WAS A PROBLEM AND NOW OUR HOME IS IN FORECLOSURE WELL ACTUALLY IT IS BEING SOLD THIS MARCH THE 187, 2004. I AM WONDERING HOW DID ALL THIS HAPPEN? HOW DID COUNTRYWIDE HELP US?

I AM FURIOUS AND WANT ANSWERS SO I CAN EXPLAIN TO MY MOM AND CHILDREN REGARDING THE TREATMENT AND URGENCY FOR ASSISTANCE THAT YOUR COMPANY GAVE US.

WELL I AGAIN AM ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO PLEASE HELP US TO TAKE THE HOME OFF THE MARKET. I LOST MY JOB I DIDN'T DIE. WHERE IS THE HELP YOU OFFERED. PLEASE CONTACT US WE ARE 16 DAYS OF LOOKING OUR HOME.

DOLORES J P

Ryan from Countrywide has informed us that they applied the insurance check to reflect that as of 6/03/03 our mortage loan was paid in full and that in 14 days we could pick up the release from city hall. THANKYOU RYAN (the only person to actually follow through on what happens in his department)
