I purchased 3 round trip tickets from San Diego to Brazil. My wife and daughter were in Brazil and they would be making the return flight with me from Brazil to San Diego.

My wife and daughter would not be making the flight from San Diego to Brazil, only the return flight from Brazil to San Diego to immigrate to the USA. On 9 December the day of my flight, the counter agent at Delta told me I had to cancel my wife and daughters tickets to Brazil since they would not be traveling with me to Brazil and only flying back with me from Brazil to San Diego.

Delta then told me I had to purchase new round trip tickets for my wife and daughter from Brazil to San Diego and back to Brazil for an additional $1,250.00

I already had tickets, they forced me to buy another 2 round trip tickets after I already had tickets from Brazil to San Diego. I wrote to them and they told me there was nothing they could do for me. I want my $1,250 dollars back. I know I would have to pay the cancellation fee of $250 for the canceled tickets but not an additional $1,200 for new tickets for my wife and daughter.

Delta wont refund my money

AUTHOR: James - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 22, 2010

The round trip tickets were purchased so they could make the flight back with me. The one way tickets were very expensive so I purchased round trip tickets. The airlines said that if they didn't fly with me from San Diego their tickets would be canceled so they insisted I buy another 2 round trip tickets from Brazil. I now have tickets back to Brazil I will not use and they wont refund.

Round trips are often cheaper than one way

People who used totry and get around the Saturday Night Stay rule for a cheap ticket by buying two round trips and not using one leg used toget their tickets cancelled.

It is pretty obvious that a round trip for this passenger was cheaper than a one way so he purchased 3 round trip tickets. When the other two passengers did not check in for the southboundflight their round triptickets were cancelled. This is perfectly normal. The airline should have refunded the ticket price less the cancellation/change fee but they didn't. I'd recommend small claims court.

Next time follow the rules. Actually it would have made more sense for the people in Brazil to buy a round trip and just not use the second half. Since they checked in for the northbound flight they probably could have called Delta when they got to the USA and simply cancelled the return.

What?

According to what you wrote you purchased 3 Round Trip Tickets even though two of the people only needed a One-Way ticket?

Why in the world would you do something thatseems (sorry but) STUPID. Even if everything went smooththat is just a wasteofmoney. Or is this a case where there wassome deal that made a roundtrip ticket cheaper. Ifthat is thecase were you trying to bend the rules and just happen to get caught?

But it even makes less sense as to why you had to buy Round Trip tickets for them again in Brazil if they were immigrate to the USA. Wouldn't that mean that they are not returning to Brazil?

It just seems as if there is a lot of detail being left out. Where right now it just appears you were trying to do something that just does not make any sense.
