This company sent me an 1099-C IRS form stating it was a Credit Card Expenditure in the amount of 1,324.37 discharge. I never had a credit card or know of this company. Called and they would not give me any information. I don't want this to hurt my tax return or any other payment i may be receiving.

Call the IRS.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 07, 2013

After Feb. 15th, you can call the IRS at their toll free number and have them initiate a form 1099 complaint.   You'll be on record as disputing this particular 1099.  You'll also be sent a letter verifying your dispute and an alternate form to use if the original 1099 is not corrected.
