We purchased our first "home of our own" from this company back in October of 2000. As a new family with two very little ones (20 months and 1 month) we were trying to find a home that would provide the room, security, and warmth our growing family needed. Little did we know that we were about to be RIPPED OFF.

After we moved in we found that our heaters didn't work, our cabinets had ripped out of the wall, closet dividers had punched through the walls in the closets, carpet wasn't even attached to floor in corners, nails and holes were left in the linoleum, and another layer just layed over the top, our thermostat didn't work, our water lines weren't connected, our doors wouldn't close and lock and so many other things it gives me nightmares just thinking about them.

We tried desperately to get the company to fix these problems but they were only temporary fixes. Now 5 years later we've had to replace all flooring, start replacing our "thermal pane" windows, both exterior doors, all plumbing fixtures, all sinks and stools, shower doors, re-do the heating ourselves (no one would even consider touching a Holly Park home), redo carpets, and buy space heaters just to make do.

What ever you do NEVER EVER purchase a Holly Park home, and really investigate the sellers and manufacturers of any modular home outfit! Don't get ripped like we did!

I feel your pain..... many of us out here that have suffered from deficient builds and customer service

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

Elecia,

You are not alone! There are many of us out here that have suffered from deficient builds and customer service. (See my ripoff report under Fortune Homes) There are many avenues to pursue, although you may find that your time is/has run out for relief.

First, check and see what was turned in during your warranty period. If you brought it up and or had service calls about an issue that you're still dealing with, you may have some recourse. All state laws are different.

Make a pain of yourself. Call, write letters, contact anyone that MAY have an interest, and actively seek out others that have had/are having problems. Look up HADD on the internet, and keep them updated. Check out the time limits for your state HUD complaint dept, and if available, make sure that you fill out your complaint as they want you to. Contact the CEO and anyone else within the manufacturers company that you can, giving them all of your information. Be polite, well spoken, and persistent. Realize that the person that you are dealing with is just doing their job, and you may have to go farther up the food chain to get results.

Make your voice heard! This is important, even if you find that you have no recourse against the company. There are many out here trying to get the laws changed so that these builders must have some acccountability to the consumer. Check out the practicality of putting a sign in your yard offering walkthroughs to those contemplating a purchase, allowing them to see the construction that they will be purchasing. Show them the work orders, the repairs that you've had to do yourself. Keep it factual, never threaten to do something that you're not going to do.

There are those of us out there willing to listen to you vent and share our experiences with you, hoping that you'll be able to avoid the downfalls that some of us have fallen prey to. Please consider being an advocate for others that may find themselves in our position. If enough of the 'little guys' fight back, we can become a formidable force!

Good Luck to you, and I'll be watching for updates.
