Florida Career College Liers and thiefs. Hialeah, Florida

So I attended the school and graduated June 17, 2010 with a Bachelor in Business Administration and was looking forward toward having my degree work for me and finally achieving a better future for my family and me. Unfortunately, it didn't go that way and although I graduated, I encontered the worst possible things that made me wanted to stop on the spot.

First of, when I first enrolled with the school they required me to sign for a private loan for the amount of $4,000 as it was not going to be covered by financial aid and was needed to be paid in full before the beginning of the semester. So, I filed the right paperwork and the money was send to the school right away. A year later I started receiving statements from Sallie Mae and noticed money was sufficient and I was as a matter of fact going to have some left over as I was buying the books myself online cheaper than if I was through the school. I saw a financial aid rep and told me I had a balance of over $4,500 from which I was surprise as I was not expecting that much.

I asked from where was the money extra coming from and was told from a private loan I had signed when I was first admitted to the school but was never used and obviously never would be as I was getting the max on everything and had left over still. I requested for the money back so I could pay it back since the interest alone was eating and he told me a check will be cut. It was and at the time of collection Briet who was to give me the check told me how she couldn't as I had a balance that needed to be cover there or else they were going to kick me out. Being so close to graduation I couldn't afford that so I gave the check back to her right there. She didn't even gave me a day or anything as she wanted to check to be sign back to the school right there!

It happened on a Thursday so I waited until the director of finance came back from his vacacion and addressed the problem back to him. Unfortunately, it was out of his hands so I had to deal with corporate directly to get the money back. I contacted her boss who promised the money would be given to me on the week to follow so I waited and nothing happened. My situation at the time changed as I got laid off and given that I was pregnant I was to use the money rather than pay it. I called but nothing happened and a week became two and three and four. The thing got so bad that I didn't get my money back in full until three months or so after graduating. It was horrible!!!!! 

Secondly, classes selections were horrible! I was working toward a degree in business administrations in general with no concentrations and ended up taking some IT classes that were not only irrelevant toward my degree but a complete waste of time not to mentioned money and though I requested changes toward classes leaning on my degree I was told they could not be offered to me as they belonged to other majors like accounting which is a concentration from Business Administrations. WOW!!!

In addition, they wanted to extend my graduation date for the following year by adding more classes to my degree that I had already in fact taken and transfer from my previous school and it was just not gonna happen! Fortunately, a lady from corporate was there to work with me and ensure my graduation for the original appointed date. So I graduated as expected.

Once graduated, job placement for me did not happened! I did my resume and the school sended me out on interviews that were not only worthless and time wasters but also upsetting as the pay offered was minimum and for a recent graduate with a Bachelor degree and the huge debt that was just not acceptable! I talked to the manager in charge of the department and due to constant tries and failure to place me I got called and asked by her directly if I could please sign a paper for her statering I was pregnant when I was not but that they will still continue to send out my resume and me on interviews.

Stupid me I did and believe me I never heard back from anyone so six months after graduation here I was at home with the huge debt on my back and me being unable to pay it. I couldn't take it anymore and called corporate to see if they could help place me. I worked through agencies but they were weeks here and there and nothing concrete / secure. I got turned down due to the status on the document on question I had. I was very disappointed, upset, and violated in every way you can possible imagine. I told them right off the truth and they apologized and said they would work with me personally.

A week went by and I guess in fear that they would be reported to the Department of Education they took action and fired the lady on the spot. I guess an investigation was conducted as I am pretty sure I was not the first person she had done this to which resulted in her immediate leave. I felt good knowing she was going to be unable in doing it to anyone else but it resolved nothing for me. I called the lady from corporate from the financial aid department and explained my situation to her and how I needed for my loans to stop for another six months after my grace period was over as I was still unemployed and she did that for me! I have to say she was awesome!!!  

Yet, a year was almost up and no job yet! One late afternoon around six or seven I got called from this lady whose rank is high in the company to ensure me how they were working hard to find me something and that they were taking and dealing with my case personally. But whatever nothing really ever happened but that the director from the hialeah campus got fire even thought he had no relation as to my case but because I had mentioned to him what was happening and how I was planning on tackling it and wanted him to not get involve he still got pressure and fired in the end. Sad to said he was great and hate to see him go.

The job I currently have I obtained through my mom thanks god and even thought it have nothing to do with my degree I love it and as a result I am now persuing and MBA in correlation to it.

Is depressing to see institutions like this one take advantage of those desperate ones looking to enhance and better themself, family, and future and be cheated, lied, and forgetted about.

I wouldn't want to see anyone else go through the nightmare I underwent as it is the worst experience I ever had.
