When you join a club or buy a subscription or service over the internet you are usually flooded with monthly e-mails giving you information, telling you how great your service is and how it can benefit you, right?  Wrong...not with Freeshipping.com.  You see they make the most money if you forget you even have a membership.  If you actually use your membership you put a dent in their bottom line...if you use it a lot you might even cost them money.

Thats why Freeshipping.com operates in the sneaking underhanded way that they do.  FIRST they trick you into joining when you take advantage of some special internet deal.  In my husbands case he ordered flowers and somehow got offered free shipping and a "free trial membership" began.  He received one introductory e-mail...that's it!  NOT ONE additional e-mail was EVER sent.  18 months later he was still paying the $12/month membership fee.

He absolutely should have noticed the charge and ended his membership - no argument there, he was careless.  When I tried to use the membership to get reimbursed for some recent shipping the fees were not reimbursable because you have to go to freeshipping.com to get to Amazon.com if you want to be reimburse....they have to have your "click history".  Click history?? So he got tricked into joining and service that is so convoluted that its not useful for the casual user, but WORST OF ALL is the fact that you never hear a word from them after you join.  NOT A WORD.  That's intentional because they only make money if you DON'T use your membership.

Hi,

I work for FreeShipping.com. We have a 24/7/365 number you can call in our website FAQ (click the "FAQ" link in the footer and it's the 2nd item from the top) but please call my department directly at 866-828-0142 and reference this post as we'd like to discuss this in detail with you. Here's a short reply to address a few broad questions (phone is always better though).

First, it is true that you will need to purchase items online in order to take advantage of our program - it is not for everybody. That's why we offer a no-cost review and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If the service isn't for you then just call us within 30 days and you pay nothing. We also have a no-questions-asked cancellation policy. We want satisfied customers because word-of-mouth advertising is the best stuff out there. Customers who use our program frequently speak highly of us and the referrals we get through word-of-mouth more than make up for any losses we might get for that single customer. In addition, we want the merchants in our program to continue participating and that happens when customers benefit from the service and continue to make purchases through us. These purchases do need to be tracked - much like you might need a special coupon code to get a discount on some websites (we have those too). We try to make this as easy as possible for our customers and are always working to improve our system.

I hope that helps but if you or other readers have additional questions please call us and we'll be glad to answer your questions (866-828-0142).

Regards,
Mike
