Ok, so I fell behind on my payments for my car.  It happens, I should have been more diligent, i know.  Therefore, my bank, Capital One put in a repo order for my car.  My car was repo'd last Tuesday 8/27/13.  It took me a week to catch up on my payments and reinstate my loan.

So I arrive at Greenwood Towing Company to retrieve my vehicle.  Protocol is to first pay the fees, which is 40 bucks a day, now mind you you have to schedule an appointment just to come and retrieve your vehicle.  I arrived for my appointment time and stood outside of the gate/guards booth for about 45 minutes (after my appointment time).  Felt more like I was waiting to visit an inmate and it was like 90 degrees outside.

Fast forward to retrieving my property, they bag all of the stuff in your car into these trash bags, put it in either room one or two and have you look at it.  Upon looking I saw that I had everything except one thing...my laptop.  I had the laptop in the trunk, boxed up and ready to be shipped back to Dell due to a problem with the screen.  It had an address label and everything, it just had not been taped up yet.

I was furious!  I asked the guy who brought my car around...wheres my laptop?  It was boxed up and ready to be shipped out, now its gone????  He says let me check the inventory sheet...low and behold it was not even inventoried...ha go figure!  I could not believe it...they literally STOLE the entire box and laptop.  Also there was damage to the front end of my car, i took pictures and now have to go thru hell and high water to report this crap and get it fixed...smh

I'd be even more livid had the laptop been working and had my personal stuff on it, I actually didnt even use it but for a few days before it had the screen problem, rendering it useless to the idiot who STOLE it.  It just infuriates me how they can be so dishonest, grimy and just plain nasty.  Its bad enough you have my vehicle in your possession doing God knows what to it and in it.  Now you're STEALING from peoples vehicles.  I even noticed a CD in the player that didnt even belong to me, the one I had left in there was missing.

I just want to say Greenwood Towing are rip off artists.  They're thieves and it makes absolutely no sense to me, and Capital One Auto Finance should be ashamed. They need to find another company to use for repoing "their" property from consumers.  To whomever who works at Greenwood Towing that stole the laptop from the 2012 Hyun Sonata that i picked up today...good luck buddy, its useless, unless you want to pay to get it fixed.  What goes around certainly comes around ;)

Like I said, hun...it happens.  People fall behind on all kinds of things...houses, cars, insurance, student loans.  I guess you're the perfect person with the perfect credit score?  As for the laptop, it was a Christmas gift, started school for my Masters and my granny was nice enough to hook me up... so no genius I don't go out and purchase "new" laptops for my own personal gain.

As if its any of your business....the laptop got maybe a days use of it...I FINALLY retrieved the warranty from the person who gave me the laptop, and had to send in bunches of paper work just to get the warranty started.  (Not sure why this is even relevant, but since you seem a bit obnoxious and nosey....)  I sent all my paperwork, they in turn sent me a box, packing label, etc.  So, packed it up, filled out the paperwork and had it ready to send on tis way.  Hence the repo, WITH the laptop in the trunk.  Hence how it is no longer in my possession, and cannot be returned to Dell to be fixed.  Warranty expires in November.

Once reporting this "theft" to Greenwood, they in turn gave me a stack of papers to fill out, THEN I had to go and get a police report, report the (depreciated) value of the laptop, then fax...now I wait.  Wait for what you say?  I wait for the thieves (Greenwood) to "decide" whether or not they will take fault in this.  So yes, hun I did ANY and ALL I was supposed to do in this matter.

If I were Grenwood, I'd look at me like I was crazy...wheres the proof I actually had a laptop in my trunk??  Especially if the person who steals your crap doesn't report the FULL inventory of whats in your vehicle at the time they process it.  I mean thats how they cover their butts right?  Not documented, not done...thats usually how it goes.

It saddens me that on top of having your car, I mean because that kind of says that the person fell into some type of hardship, that they have the audacity to steal.  I am actually doing better at staying on top of my payments, and asking for help if need be....I am an ordinary citizen in this country just trying to make it. There were sooo many cars out there, it happens to the best of us...one day uou're up...the next you're down.

The tone of your rebuttal leads me to believe that you felt I "deserved" to have my item stolen, and its sad that people feel as you do.  You're probably related to the person that works at Greenwood that stole my laptop.  But like I said its all good, it doesn't work anyway, so judge lest ye be judged my friend :)  And karma knows where everyone lives, SSN's, D.o.B.'s etc, so I am not worried.  What will be...will be.  I pray that you never have this happen to you, pray that you never lose your job, or further your education and have to take out loans to get by.

I hope you always have food on your table and are never in the position to beg....but you know everyone isn't that lucky...life sucks sometimes, but those who are positive, genuine in spirit, and dedicated will always come out on top.

- Yea it sure does happen, especially when you go out buying new laptop computers rather than making your car payment.

Anyways, if they stole the laptop what did the police say when you reported it..you did report it didn't you?

Because it seems very strange that you don't seem that upset that your laptop is gone.  That is for a person struggling to make your car payments you would think that one would at least mention the monitary loss of the laptop, because damaged or not YOU still have to pay for that.  Either from you paying for it outright when you got it or in the monthly payments if you bought it on credit.  Yet not one word about that.
