Purchased 8wk old Wheaton terrier 03JUN04. $2500.00,3-d hospitalization,4wks of antibiotics,wk'ly vet visitis for blood & xrays later...the dog is still not healthy!
Web search of breeder put me here to read Rip-Offs & guess what: BOTH breeder & pet store are noted negatively.
My vet says the puppy received way too many vaccinations way too soon; questions if deworming agents really given.
What can be done???
Who can I write besides the local board of health, the Dept. of Agriculture, the ACA,the local Better Business Bureau?

Response to Diane

All of our puppies come with free veterinary care for any condition that arises within the first 14 days of purchase and we continue that free care until that condition is corrected. This period may be a stressful time for some puppies as they acclimate to their new environment.
We also make very clear in our warranty that we DO NOT PAY FOR ANY VETERINARY SERVICES OTHER THAN THOSE AT OUR APPROVED VETERINARY CLINICS.
If I was Diane and I had to pay a $2500 vet bill I would be upset also. However, Diane decided to use her own veterinarian instead of one of ours. I did speak to her and made her aware of this when she first called but she decided to continue to use her own vet.
She says that her vet said that the pup had way too many innoculations. In our environment we have found that a parvo puppy shot given every 10 days is the best way of protecting our puppies. Once a puppy goes home a shot every 3-4 weeks is sufficient. Trust me, these shots are not cheap and I would love to save money if we could safely innoculate our puppies on a less frequent schedule. Most veterinarians are impressed with the fact that we are so fastidious with our shot program.
At first we are accused of giving "way too many shots" and then we are questioned whether we have given the deworming agents as we show. Yes we really do give the deworming agents, although they are really directed more at microscopic intestinal parasites.
If Diane's puppy is still not healthy as she claims we would love to know of the problem because she has never called us about this.

Do you have a health contract? If so they may be liable for the full amount of the contract price. Talk to a lawyer.

If your vet is willing to sign an affidavit that this puppy was sick when you purchased him, contact the District Attorney's office in the county where the breeder is located. Tell them you want this breeder investigated for selling sick animals. If your dog is a registered breed, contact the AKC and advise them of the problems with this breeder.
